Hello all!
I was hoping to get some light shed on a few questions I had about JHU's MHS and Ph.D program in Epi. I can't seem to find my answers in the handbook they have online.
If I'm admitted to the MHS program, can I internally apply for the Ph.D program? If I'm admitted into the Ph.D...
Hi all!
I thought CEPH accreditation didn't matter for PhD programs? I thought it only mattered for MPH and DrPH programs...I'd love some insight if i'm incorrect haha.
The beauty of a major like public health (which was my major too) is that it's applicable to many, many sectors in the health world. I volunteered in a hospital setting and an HIV clinic, I've have more traditional experiences like working in my county's department of epi, and I've done...
Hello all,
Up until recently, I assumed only basic science PhD's were eligible to apply and do ABMGG Clinical Molecular Genetics fellowships. However, I've recently stumbled upon a small handful of ABMGG-certified individuals who did their PhD's in Genetic or Molecular Epidemiology, then did a...
Hello all,
Up until recently, I assumed only basic science PhD's were eligible to apply and do ABMG Clinical Molecular Genetics fellowships. However, I've recently stumbled upon a small handful of ABMG-certified individuals who did their PhD's in Genetic or Molecular Epidemiology.
I've checked...
I know that (for example), there are CEPH-accredited MPH programs within Schools of Medicine.
Let's just say that same SOM offers a Ph.D. in one or various PH disciplines. Would that Ph.D be considered as a doctoral degree granted from a CEPH-accredited institution?
I know CEPH certification is important for MPHs and DrPHs, but what about research degrees?
If I wanted to work for the NIH/CDC as a researcher, does accreditation matter as much? Would there be any disadvantages to doing an MS or Ph.D. from a non-accreditated school?
I had another question -
My undergrad grades were not all that great.
Realistically, I'm probably going to only be admitted to MS programs first. If I do well in my Master's program, will that help offset my rockier undergrad grads for Ph.D programs?
Government is actually where I've been looking at the most. Of course, ideally I'd love to be a professor but even an adjunct position to supplement a government job seems like a pleasant combo for me.
Yeah I think going into government would be the best bet for me. Plus I really like the work that the CDC and NIH do, especially in terms of genetic epidemiology.
Hello academic public health professionals!
I am currently a 4th year public health major, graduating in the spring.
Come next fall, I will be applying to MS and Ph.D epidemiology programs.
In the past few years, I've heard a lot of dismal prospects about the future of academia and...
Would they let you split your time between the ED, ICU, and OR like that?
I mean, all three are basically shift models so it would work out but would there be enough overlapping skill sets to approve such a split?
