Need HELP deciding between SJSU or Cal Poly SLO for premed as a biology student

Keep in mind: What does 46% getting into medical school mean? It is not the number of pre-med freshman that get into medical school. It's the ones who do well in Biology and Chemistry and then OChem...the ones who do well in science and keep up their GPA...and are able to medically volunteer...

    PA Application Process

My daughter was originally thinking pre-med and took all of the pre-med prequisites (got her degree in Psychology) but decided senior year that Med School was not the path for her. She is currently considering PA. She has worked as a medical assistant (takes history, BP, Pulse, weight,) for two...

How to Deal with Rejection (Post interview)

Have you taken appropriate pre-med classes? Did you have a GPA within the range of accepted students? Was your MCAT within the range of accepted students? Did you do volunteering/ECs? Then it isn't a waste of time.

Is a Psychology as a pre-med major a bad idea?

You can fit pre-med courses with Psychology, esp if you take a gap year. If PA is your back up, check out the PA pre-req which are not the same...they want Anatomy and Physiology for example. So if you take the superset of all the courses you will be good to go.

Still can't believe I didn't match with anesthesia with these stats

Why not make lists public after rank day? I say this every year, but in 2005, the AUA (urology) match got completely fu><><0re3d when they apparently did this (i.e. didn't appropriately hand check or QC the results) which resulted in HMS grads with 260+, AOA and PhDs not matching while FMGs...

GO TO CLASS, BUY THE BOOK, READ THE CHAPTERS, AND DO THE HOMEWORK! 1) Go to Professor's office hours early in the semester and Ask this question: "I know this is a really difficult class-- what are some of the common mistakes students make and how can I avoid them?" 2) If you have problems...

    Jury duty during interview season

Ask for a delay. Say you have med school interviews. They will just push off your jury duty until later. I did that when I had a business trip. But they will follow up. Alternately you could hope you don't have to actually go (they have you call the night before). If you do have to go and if...

Accepted to School, but just recieved an Open intox what to do?

I know someone with a similar ticket...she showed up to court and since it was a first "offense" and it was reduced to a "public health violation" and they told her that if anyone asks "were you ever arrested or anything you can tell them no."

My GPA is in the garbage, I took a semester off, transferred schools.. can I have any hopes left?

    1) If you are interested in DO schools, you can retake the "D" classes and they will use the new grades. 2) I dont think medical schools care when you volunteered/shadowed, just that you have so many hours doing it over your college career. 3) Make sure now if you go back to school, you and your...
