Just wanted to add, you can also do a one-year fellowship in Hospice / Palliative Care after peds and there is an AOA Board exam in Hospice and Palliative Care (for those that do peds and then do the palliative care fellowship after)...

It’s one example of many of why their students hate the admin. I’m not degrading their education, it’s just not a school that loves its students, nor its hospital sites, just solely loves their board members. There’s a reason why NY kept saying no for the longest time to Elmira’s campus opening...

They don’t allow water bottles in all day lectures lol. So if you’re okay with that kind of environment and security yelling at you then this school is for you!

Because it’s a subspecialty of psychiatry, not pediatrics, and insurance reimburses higher for psych than for peds coding, plus psych docs bill for therapy when they do it, in addition to regular visits. And there is a shortage of child psych so demand is high and supply is low, thus salaries...

It’s the Bronx. That’s all you need to know … lol Excellent training but definitely not an easy patient population nor easy fellowship hours due to the area.

Child psych has a very high earning potential, pays well with great lifestyle, the same as most adult fellowships

No one cares. Not enough psychiatrists and not enough applicants for fellowship. You’ll get in somewhere don’t worry!
