As a US MD who has done it, I do not recommend this plan. The medical environment is so underfunded, the doctors so overworked and the situation so bad....also the billing system is terrible. Quality of care for the patients and resources are absolutely at the bottom.
As a US MD having practiced in both countries...I would not practice in Canada right now. It is different by speciality, but physicians are not treated well, underpaid, and overworked in a collapsing healthcare system. Physicians are not respected and treated especially poorly in primary care.
Hang on...medicine is not a Bachelor's in Romania. 6years post high school and typically, quite hard to get into for Romanians.
Anyway, OP is in a Plastics residency which is very, very hard to achieve post-graduation in any place.
The OP not being sure about how things are in America should...
I also took my exams in Europe. If it makes you feel better, I took a fourty point drop from my NBME's on Step II. Maybe it is the pressure of the exam, lack of sleep or something else. I was shocked to say the least. I know where you are coming from.
As I said, you can get family medicine...
I finished in the same region. Our teaching system is so vastly different - ie. you rarely see multiple choice exams, so when students write the USMLE there is a huge difference in terms of the way one has to study as you know. Not to mention the change of language, timed format, and focus of...
I am a American img, interested in rural medicine and am entering the match this year. I had some questions that I wanted to ask through pm in regards to the match & rural med. if someone would be willing?
I would really appreciate any help whatsoever. :)
Well there goes my point out the window. Just trying to help out. Ok, how about Dinklage from Game of Thrones - 4ft something and he's managed. That was before any success when he met his wife and put her in a ratty NY apt. He's a dwarf and I am sure no one here has it that bad...:)
Keep...
Don't know how I got trapped reading this thread but here's a woman's perspective:
I married a guy a few inches shorter than me. At first it bothered me a little when I met him but at the end of the day personality is everything. Any women who won't even consider dating a shorter guy is...
I'm trying to make a point, since someone commented on a program being less-then-stellar because it was filled with IMG's - that irregardless of where they started out, they are likely more than qualified for the positions they are in. Training outside of America does not equate with a...
One more thought on those IMG docs: Starting medical school out of high school means six years of medical school in Europe. Critical Care is not a sub-specialization and is five years after that - at least where I am. Since when do American doctors have an intellectual monopoly? I hear the...
Seen it.
We had a prison transfer (murderer) with meningoencephalitis. He clearly needed critical care but no one wanted him. This evil man was cuffed to a clinic bed with very little treatment other than fluids for about two weeks before he finally died. No one wanted even to go into his...
I never actually post here but I'll give this thread a try:
I suppose I get to see the worst side from the last nine months working in a large overseas ICU/Trauma unit where there is no such thing as a DNR order and legally we are required to fully resuscitate all patients. It seems no...
I am under the impression that residency interviews should be conducted in the same manner as job interviews in other fields as far as etiquette goes.
Maybe these clowns with the cookies, crying, and the cell phones have gone the high school to med. school route without ever really having had...
