praticing medicine in england, canada, australia, etc w/ a US license?

I understand that Australia (and other countries?) have recently eased restrictions for IMG's (ie anyone who is not a native Australian) to practice in rural underserviced areas. Has anyone been through getting a license there?

    NRMP but not ERAS

Because I am somewhat of a different candidate (older, Canadian, some residency training completed etc.), I sent applications directly to programs mostly for PGY2, 3, 4, 5. Since I did not match, I thought NRMP would reveal to me the unmatched programs and I would contact them in the scramble...

    NRMP but not ERAS

Is there any problem participating in the scramble tomorrow if you enrolled and did not match :( in NRMP but did not enroll in ERAS?

    Independent applications without using ERAS

Is it possible to send applications independently to program directors without using ERAS if one has sent ones ROL to NRMP? Can one get matched this way? Any downside to this?

Submitting an ROL without sending applications

I am wondering what happens if you send in your ROL and you have no interviews, no applications sent or incomplete applications? If they do not fill their quotas, will they ask you to submit an application or what?

Which Programs Are the Most Progressive?

Thanks. I agree. Are you at U of Arizona or Loma Linda?

    "No Longer Accepting Applications"

Yes. Thank you for the suggestion and the compliment :). I do some stand up comedy. How about this: "Seven days without making an approved SDN analogy makes one week." :D

What employment possibilities are there for doctors (I'm an FMG) who ..........

I found some programs (psychiatry, preventive medicine) that told me (I am a Canadian graduate) that 10+ years out of graduation is OK. I am wondering if there are ways of overcoming the resistance of other programs who say it is not OK? If you can tailor your personal statement to their...

    "No Longer Accepting Applications"

Ok. Ok. Please forgive me for the weak analogy. The weather in Canada is so severe, it weakens us. :D Another reason for taking my time applying is that I would prefer a PGY2, 3 or 4 position since I have done one year of postgrad training and may get credit for my years in practice. I...

    Comparison of Services Listing Openings

I now see there is a closed thread entitled "Welcome Resident Swap". It has a post that says the the poster was told positions on Resident Swap were already taken. Any comments? Any success stories? What are the reasons for closing a thread?

    "No Longer Accepting Applications"

Yes, I am new to this process and slow. But not being your usual candidate, I feel I will likely wind up with a "less competitive" program or go to the scramble. Parents used to put Downs Syndrome children in institutions because they had low IQ, looked strange and had organ defects. Many...

    "No Longer Accepting Applications"

Wondering what percentage of programs in ERAS say "no longer accepting applications" at the present time?

    Comparison of Services Listing Openings

Can you give me a comparison of the various sites that offer listings of immediate residency openings? Prices, strengths, weaknesses etc. Is there a way of finding these on your own? Residentswap, Findaresident etc. I am looking for a Pgy 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 in psychiatry, preventive medicine or...

    PGY 2 and Beyond

Thanks so much. Your advice makes sense. Why think either/or when you can think both. I am thinking of applying through ERAS sometime between today and the deadline with the hope of finding a late position or going through the scramble. Any fallacy to this logic?
