    WAMC Low MCAT, Reapplicant

So how have you significantly improved your application for reapplying? Schools will expect significant improvement. Have you improved your nonclinical volunteering. Tutoring isn’t nonclinical volunteering. It’s noted under teaching I think. You need some primary care shadowing. Not a lot but...

WAMC CA ORM low stats, okay EC

You really aren’t ready to apply to any medical school. Your sGPA will most likely get you auto screened from consideration. How is your MCAT studying coming? What are your scores on your FL? I think part of your problem is that you have serious gaps in your fund of scientific knowledge...

    MD WAMC? (School List Help)

Because you are an OOS applicant with no significant ties to the state. Obviously you want to apply to those schools. And of course you can. It’s your application.

    MD WAMC? (School List Help)

What is the 10th percentile for IU’s MCAT and GOA? It’s not that you are OOS, it’s your stats that screen you out.

MD & DO WAMC: Preparing to Applying for 2025 Cycle and School List

You should shadow anyway, so yes do that but you only really need 50 hours of shadowing. You still need nonclinical volunteering and not a crisis text line. That was okay during the pandemic but now you need to find some face to face experiences. You have to get out of your comfort zone. Get...

Any last minute schools to add on the allopathic side

Some schools average multiple MCAT scores. AMCAS recommends that schools do this. Some do, some don’t and we don’t know who does what. But with your list of 40 MD schools I’d leave out schools with MCATS so high you might be screened out. Just a waste of time and money.

MD & DO WAMC: Preparing to Applying for 2025 Cycle and School List

The thing is, for nonclinical volunteering you are expected to get outside of your comfort zone., get your hands dirty, deal with people very unlike yourself. IMO being a crisis line volunteer does fit the bill. Find a soup kitchen or homeless shelter and start volunteering. As to getting...

Does Patient Service Representative count as clinical experience? Also, is that looked down upon by Med School Admissions? PLEASE READ

I’m not sure what growth you expect to show. You’re a MA. There are only certain things you can do. You aren’t diagnosing, you aren’t treating , you are a MA. But you obviously want to do the PSR job so go for it. Do what makes you happy.

Does Patient Service Representative count as clinical experience? Also, is that looked down upon by Med School Admissions? PLEASE READ

Another vote for NOT doing the PSR. Strictly secretarial. No chance to see doctor/patient interaction at all. Question: how did you see 70 patients each day by yourself and what in the world did you do with/for them?

    GPA discrepancy

IMO that is not a reasonable excuse. How did you miss a whole page? Obviously you didn’t turn it over, but why? You are applying to med school. Skipping a whole page on an exam isn’t an excuse for anything. Nothing you can do now but move on, stop worrying and do better. Please don’t use...

WAMC school list help! need to cut down schools

Were any of these on the previous list you were given? I don’t do lists but for sure cut UChicago and Northwestern. Your MCAT isn’t competitive for those two schools at least. Unless you have hundreds, if not thousands of service hours to the unserved/underserved in your community, drop Rush...

    Reapplicant

It might help if you could answer the questions you were asked in the previous threads. Could you share where you have applied before? You received one interview each cycle you applied? Is that correct? Are you aware that many schools average multiple MCAT scores? AMCAS. Recommends that...

What do I need to do to matriculate immediately after undergrad?

There are a few things in this section that concern me. If you don’t want a gap year you have exactly 12 months to build your application. What you do Senior year will be in case you aren’t accepted during your first cycle. Why are you thinking of getting your EMT certificate? Do you want...

Gap year: full-time ophthalmic technician position or part-time allergist scribing position?

I don’t understand why , if you take the FT job, you will have to drop your volunteering and most importantly studying for the MCAT. But, Based on what you have shared take the scribe job. You don’t need the money, you do have to do your volunteering and the MCAT studying is most important.
