The UTMC area is not dangerous. You could drive 10 minutes to Perrysburg which is a very upscale community with great schools, or about 15 minutes to Ottawa Hills which has a top 5 school system in Ohio.
As a DO you may be explaining for the rest of your life what your degree means. That may be a consideration for you.
DO schools also attract students with less competitive scores/grades. That would also be a consideration, good or bad.

Well, it would be nice to have 4-wheel drive in the winter, but it isn't necessary. Most locals don't. And we don't have huge amounts of snow like Cleveland or Buffalo.
The city does a very good job of snow removal, so I wouldn't be too concerned.

There are tons of apartment buildings as close as across the street from campus or as far away as you want. If you're in a bind I'm sure you could devote one day when you get here and find something you like. I see for rent signs on many of the buildings.
