Some of these Naplex pass rates are awful

One of my techs informed me that "FaceBook is for old people".

Some of these Naplex pass rates are awful

Many of the college kids I work with are not capable of doing math that I was capable of in the 4th grade. It's fascinating to me that we live in a time where it's never been easier to educate yourself on just about anything you want to learn, yet people on average seem more stupid than ever...

Is a few years in chains worth it for the money?

A "few years" can easily turn into a decade in retail. When you leave that job, someone else will take it very quickly and it may be a very long time before you get another opportunity at a good job like that. I would not leave your independent job unless I was absolutely sure. If you're making...

    CVS Walkout

I just now heard about it at WAG when I walked in today. The techs are trying to talk me into it, saying they would walk out with me (and of course they would since they can't legally be there without a pharmacist). I won't walk out without notice as that is potentially damaging on my...

    What would you do?

In this situation, you definitely should NOT be working 4 or 5 hours extra. Don't let them make you the workhorse. And yes, finding a new job would definitely be a great idea. Don't put up with people who don't wanna do their f***ing job. Bad evals or not. It's not worth it.

1 year WFH and feeling isolated - what would you do ?

Just some thoughts as I do not have WFH experience: try to develop things outside of work. Hobbies, meetup groups, sign up for some classes, maybe even second part time jobs. You could even do some Uber runs where you are rewarded for striking up conversations with people. Try to find something...

Should i ask for more money? 1st pharmacist job offer

Not sure what your cost of living is, but I worked at Wag for 6 years and only made $60.55/hr when I left about 5 months ago. And they wouldn't budge when I asked for higher pay. So it sounds really good to me...though I feel very ripped off right now.

(P5) I feel like I'm in the wrong field

Well man, you have a tough road ahead of you. It's not going to be easy. I don't believe in following your passion. I believe in following the money. Not everyone agrees with me, but this is my sales pitch: how many people do you know actually enjoy their jobs? They did a study around 2016...

    Alternatives to pharmacy?

Yeah, but I'm reluctant to return to school. By the time you get through that, and miss 4 years of income/go back into debt, it could be a completely different situation. Or it could change 5-10 years later when you're still mid-career. It happened to pharmacy, it can happen to any career. I'm...

When will the gravy train end?

Yes, overtime is not the answer. I'm all for saving and investing and making as much as you can, but not by putting in extra hours. The goal is to get paid more for your time, not to put in more time...especially on highly stressful jobs like retail pharmacy.

    CVS/Walgreens fined $10B

I'm doing my part by refusing to work at Walgreens ever again. There is no conditional sign-on bonus they can offer to convince me to come back. They already took 6 years of my life. No more.

    Techs administering Covid vaccine

I graduated in 2016 and am doing really well financially...maybe it's because I live in a low COL area, relatively speaking. But I cleared all my student loan debt, I own a house which is now furnished, a car that's almost paid off, and still have about 100k between my 401k and savings. This is...

    Mass Layoffs in Tech

Retail definitely does favor younger people because of the nature of the work. Working 12 hour shifts with one 30 minute break and multitasking every few seconds making split second decisions is not for older people.

Who is down for a national Pharmacist walkout/sickout?

I did get a little bit of backlash from the store manager of a Walgreens for suggesting that the problem could be easily fixed by spending more money on staffing. I thought she would have been more sympathetic to that than district and up, but I was wrong. She sarcastically said, "Oh, I thought...
