    Oregon pain clinic defrauding insurers

Agree, it should really be very much so a diagnosis of exclusion rather than an initial dogmatic algorithmic thought

    Oregon pain clinic defrauding insurers

Referred pain from facet, glut strain from abnormal biomechanics likely from underlying hip/knee oa…anything but “sij”

    Oregon pain clinic defrauding insurers

I despise insurance just as much as the next guy, but I’ve always said sij pathology is way way over diagnosed. It’s like the fall back for anyone with 5 minutes of unilateral buttock pain and an “ouch” with touching the area. Just cause fortin came up with his own “test” doesn’t mean we have to...

    New TPI restrictions?

If a patient needs recurrent tpis, they are probably better off seeing someone else anyway imo

Help me choose between two jobs?

If an attending pain doc can’t see 30 patients a day…that’s just sad. If you really understand what you can offer and what you can’t and what you won’t do, it’s not hard. If someone thinks that that amount of patients per day will burn someone out, I don’t know what kind of ridiculous Cush...

Help me choose between two jobs?

Aside from the no chance of buy in/partnership thing, 30 patients a day and 6-700k is hardly something to scoff at. Partnership isn’t so wonderful all the time. People don’t seem to get that sometimes being employed and able to walk making that kind of money/year is not terrible

    Understanding facility reimbursement

This is probably true..In the current economic times, I can’t speak to the cost of creating a procedure suite. I was in a similar situation a few years ago. There were two of us in an ortho group. My predecessor was all asc based but created a site of service differential payment for himself...

    Understanding facility reimbursement

Asc is crap. The whole thing makes no sense for us. Everyone doing shots there has a vested interest and that interest will poison rational thinking and propagate talking up the facility as a “safer” place to get a procedure done. I’m saying this as a small percentage owner in an asc myself. I...

    Understanding facility reimbursement

Hospital rapes docs for sos and facility fees. There’s no good way. I could have if I had strong entrepreneurial spirit started my own thing years ago. At a measly 170k in loans, I was fearful. Now the guys coming out due to 400k in loans won’t go out on their own and so the cycle of...

    Understanding facility reimbursement

The happiest docs I know are those working with like minded individuals. The biggest mistake I made was joining an ortho group from the start. Now the cycle will just continue.
