    Osteopathic ENT Program Info

Out of the 1400 people who have viewed this post, is there really no one else (past or present) who can corroborate or add to my post? It would be nice to have some info and opinions on the programs I didn't rotate at. Also, please don't hesitate to contact me <[email protected]> if you...

    Osteopathic ENT Program Info

Also, research is not as big in the DO world as it is in the MD world mostly because you will not be training at big academic institutions. I did do some non-ENT research and presented some abstracts at conferences, but I was not published. I can't just pick 2 or 3 programs that I think are...

    Osteopathic ENT Program Info

Hey everyone, I would like to address some of the questions I have been getting as well as try to give some advice that I feel would help you on your journey. First of all, I did not apply to any allopathic programs. I think ENT is one of the few programs where D.O.'s are almost never taken at...

    Osteopathic ENT Program Info

Okay, match day was today and I did get one of the 25 D.O. ENT spots! In an attempt to keep this somewhat anonymous, I'm not telling which program I matched into or which programs I interviewed at. I'll start with programs I didn't rotate at... 1. Tulsa - they weren't even going to exist...

COMING SOON!!!!!!!!!! Hey everyone, I'm a MSIV currently applying to the osteopathic ENT programs. After the match, I'm going to post info on all the programs I rotated/interviewed at as well as other info that I feel might be helpful to future applicants. I'm pretty sure there aren't any...

USMLE World Scores and Step II Scores

DO student here and I just got my scores back today - 243/99! I'm still in shock because I walked out of it feeling like crap, hoping to at least match my step 1 score (228/95). I did 100% of UW and then went over missed questions again and again until I got them right. I also went over...

Convincing an MD of what DO is all about

If there is the same percent of bad DO's as there are bad MD's, then there are actually many more bad MD's in the US... Ever met or been a patient of a physician who is really rude and has the personality of a doorknob? Then ever ask yourself why that person actually became a doc in the...

Issues Facing Osteopathic Medicine: Please contribute your thoughts

I guess I don't understand why everyone puts so much emphasis on osteopathic schools "lower admission standards". The numbers of many osteopathic schools are similar to the 2nd and 3rd tier allopathic schools. I firmly believe that the quality of physician you will become has NOTHING - I...

    Allopathic Medical School Expansion

One thing I forgot to mention - If a DO student takes the USMLE and does better than half of the MD students that take it, what does that say about the quality of education or admission standards of allopathic and osteopathic schools?

    Allopathic Medical School Expansion

Everyone has extremely valid points and I completely agree with all of you, but let me propose one question to all of you... Have you ever heard ANYONE (yourselves included) say that the reason they like a certain doctor is because they scored high on their MCAT's or got A's all through...

    ***AZCOM Class of 2010!!!****

First of all, I am looking forward to meeting all of you future classmates! I was also accepted at Touro California, but I feel that Midwestern is a much better school! I am at a bit of an advantage, having grown up two miles away from Midwestern, so I would be glad to answer any questions...

Can I Still Be A Good D.O. If I Want To Treat The Symptoms And Not The Person?

Considering the focal point of osteopathic medicine is treating the patient as a whole, why would you even become a D.O. if you didn't support its philosophy? If you are going the osteopathic route just because those are the only schools you got into, maybe you should reconsider your career path.

What is a good MCAT for the DO schools?

I wouldn't rely on these numbers too heavily! Based on the increase in D.O. applicants year after year, it is becoming more and more competitive to get into osteopathic schools. I just got accepted into AZCOM and our classes average MCAT was a 30.

if you bomb april, are you still applying?

I recently attended a reapplication workshop for U of AZ med school and they said that they had someone just get accepted who had reapplied for their SIXTH time!!! I always keep this in the back of my mind whenever I begin to doubt myself or my qualifications. Bottom line - if med school is...

    the difference between a 30er and a 20er

WILLTHATSALL - it is a perfectly valid question, as most others in this discussion have found. What I am wondering is what type of response is yours? I have known several intelligent and skilled applicants who are very have worked their butts off in class and have the GPA's to show for it...
