1 year Otology fellowship vs ACGME accredited 2year fellowship

Hi all, So I plan on doing Neurotology, however I have minimal to no interest in doing research long term. I would need to gear up for application season next year. What is the long-term career outlook of doing a 1 year non-accredited fellowship vs doing a full 2 year ACGME accredited one...

    Private Practice Neurotology

Hey all, I'm a current resident interested in Neurotology Unfortunately, I really dislike the academic environment and everything that comes along with it. Im wondering how common it is to go into PP after doing neurotology fellowship. Will I be able to find a job?

    Is one away rotation okay?

I did 1 away, I matched. No one batted an eye at this. Zero might look strange, but probably wouldn't hold you back too much either assuming you could get 3 solid LORs from your home program. You probably want to do one just for yourself either way, so you have something to compare your home...

    Are aways essentially mandatory nowadays?

Wow! Thank you for this and all your other detailed and insightful posts! Know that we aspiring ENTs really appreciate that you put in the time to do this!

Will a Pass in anesthesia rotation hurt my chances?

Thanks all! I definitely don't come across as arrogant. In fact, my personality and "niceness" is a big part of why I decided to not do surgery. Well that, and the fact that I love physiology and pharmacology >>>>>>>>> anatomy, and have a special hatred for clinic and rounding.

Will a Pass in anesthesia rotation hurt my chances?

Hi all! I'm an MS3 who is mostly done with third year at a Low-Tier State school. I've recently become interested in going into anesthesia. I have excellent grades (>260 Step 1, almost all Honors on clerkships thus far), and would be a great applicant. However, my school has a mandatory 2 week...

    Away elective questions

Thank you. Is there a skew toward basic science vs clinical research one way or the other? I am quite interested in both. As a medical student with limited exposure, how exactly would I know if a school's faculty are well-known? Based on some googling, I see that NYU seems to have a lot of...

    Away elective questions

Thank you both so much! I am prepared to work hard, and am a generally likable person by nature, so I will try to rotate where I want to go then! Based on preliminary discussions with my med school advisor, I am strongly considering taking a research year. Although, she admittedly has very...

    Away elective questions

Hello all, Sorry for spamming the message board, but I don't know where else to turn (I did try too search through old threads with limited success). I would greatly appreciate advice on any (or all) of these questions. I have several questions about away electives: 1) My school is on a kind...

Matching into plastics from a low-tier med school

Thanks all! My school does have a home plastics department, but no residency program. What about research? I don't have any PRS specific research to date. Would it make sense for me to take a research year or should try to find a study or 2 I can get involved in/publish before I apply?

Matching into plastics from a low-tier med school

Hey all, I am currently an MS3 at a "low-tier" med school. I scored a 262 on Step 1 and for reference (although I know it is not relevant) scored in the "100th national percentile" on my medicine shelf exam (my only rotation thus far). What I mean is that if I were coming from a top school, I...

Official Internal Medicine Shelf Exam Thread

I did around 1000 uworld questions (had like 300 left) mostly on timed mode, ~75-80% (mostly mid 80s by the end). Also read around half of step up (in topics I didn't feel too great about such as rheum and pull) and watched half of the online med ed. I watch the Emma holiday review 2 days...
