I got this same email and had the same concerns as the OP. Certainly, Michigan is a great program and any program can get a 3 year cycle instead of five for any number of reasons. However, I was given the same advice originally by my PD as the OP was - avoid 3 year accredidations...

Tac, One small correction - the Rosslyn GUTS no longer runs to Leavey, it now goes to the undergrad side of campus next to the football field and the undergrad dining hall. So students now have to walk up the hill to get to the med school. They just changed that this past year. Congrats...
