Open letter to Dr. Ajluni

that is one of the funniest things i've read in a long, long time...

UNECOM: The most expensive COM in the known universe.

the1..you've to a very interesting point. Finances are crazy out of control! Especially when you look at what we will do for the amount we will get paid and the risk we take everyday to do it. The biggest kisser for me has been to see the amazing amount of resources at allo schools (mostly...

Why high tuition hurts Osteopathic Medicine

you know that dems voted for the medicare cuts right? And the reason the gov isn't funding more GME is because they are trying to get out of GME all together. That would mean that we would have to help fund our continued eduation as residents (sounds crazy but i promise you this has come up)...

Is AOA leading the medical profession towards the right direction?!

That would be great except for the fact that the AOA is delusional! Try telling a pt with schizophrenia that they aren't hearing real voices!!! The greatest encumbrance to change from within the AOA is that their leaders aren't elected...they get appointed years in advance. This means that...

    Where did you all match??

nkmu, what did you think of MCG...area/facilities? I didn't end up making my interview for medicine but always wondered about it...

Questions for already accepted NHSC Scholars

i'll try my best as well (i'm graduating this summer so i haven't done the placement thing...grantfp will be a good person to give insight on that) and, i'm happy you are asking these questions...at a conference a few years ago for recent scholars i was AMAZED at some of the ignorance of...

    To whom it may concern

At a conference we had after receiving the scholarship they mentioned that the NHSC has tried to include EM...but the hang up is from the EM side of things...they don't want to be considered a "primary care"...it's all about the prestige:)

is it true Northwestern charges 1000 for DO's to rotate?

the kisser is when it is $200 for a visiting allo student and $1000 for a visiting DO...i don't thing we eat that much more food than allo students... Colorado changed it's policy for some DO schools due to policy we presented to the AMA a year or so ago... the biggest underlying problem to us...

    Time's article about DOs

i don't know...dkm has a point... The AOA has concocted this casuistry in too many of us of being picked on, lowly, unrespected DO's...in short, the AOA tries to be offended. Thicker skin wouldn't hurt anybody...people are going to question your degree, your race, your financial status, your...

    Observations of the 2007 match

we were pushing policy (and i sincerely feel we could have gotten it to pass) in the MSS and into the HOD at the AMA...the AMA isn't like the AOA...In the allo world the ACGME oversees the academic issues while the AMA can wield its influence in the political arena...the ACGME listens to the AMA...

    Observations of the 2007 match

i think this is a great argument FOR a joint match...but there are some details that people must understand as the anti-joint match people will fill your heads with fallacies much like the AOA does. 5 or 6 years ago we had a "joint-match" in that we all matched the same day. The problem was...

    Time's article about DOs

i heard a great comparison regarding this idea... Some of you may be in the top of your class...given awards, scholarships, residencies clamoring for your application...you've worked hard and are reaping the benefits... Most of us are not...we are barely making it by and just hoping to...

Advocates of DO Degree change to MD-O or O-MD

what i think a lot of "us" DO's don't understand is that our very language perpetuates these attacks... examples: DO's are MD's plus more...we treat people, not just symptoms...we learn more than you in school...we are holistic providers that focus more on the whole body...we have a unique DO...

Conversion of all DO degrees to MD, and ending separation of medicine

maybe we could do it like immigration...every 20 years or so provide full amnesty and those who want can make the jump... i loved at the very end it says "Nationwide, osteopaths operate six colleges and 400 hospitals"...i wonder how soon it will be before we get closer to 400 schools and 6...
