    Complete Bariatric/Obesity medicine?

Bariatric means pertaining to obesity. It really has nothing to do with surgery. How about not limiting it to surgery, since that's not where the specialty is headed in the future anyway? The board certification is in bariatric MEDICINE. There is no board certification in bariatric SURGERY. Thanks.

    Complete Bariatric/Obesity medicine?

Been away from SDN for a while, checking in to see what's new. As a newly board certified specialist in bariatric (obesity) medicine, I would like to suggest a subspecialty category under Physician/Resident for Bariatric/Obesity Medicine. See American Board of Obesity Medicine and the Obesity...

    Suggestion Academic Physician Forum

As a newly appointed volunteer clinical professor, I agree. I'd like to see this, too.

Obesity rate predicted to increase from 35% to 44%-Why?

I know the answer. The science is out there. I won't straight out tell you. For one, it takes too long to type. But you are sort of on the right track. Drop the sexual part, and you'll be even more on the right track. I will tell you it's not diet, with the only caveat being that we need more...

California wants to dumb down medical care with EVERYONE playing an MD

That will be their next big push, no doubt. But first, they have to get enough ignorant legislators in a majority of states to buy into their nonsense.

California wants to dumb down medical care with EVERYONE playing an MD

Single issue? Grow up? Ummm... This is NOT a single issue, and it's the vast, vast, vast majority of physicians that you're saying "grow up, folks" to. Maybe you need to take a long, hard look in the mirror.

Should Family Medicine Residency Programs be 3 or 4 years long?

More in depth training and opportunity is a waste? How so? And actually, it's the way to go. Unfortunately, it's one of the best kept secrets out there. It's funny, so many physicians who AREN'T med/peds trained say this, but med/peds trained physicians and residents are VERY satisfied with...

Should Family Medicine Residency Programs be 3 or 4 years long?

Yay. More hoops and requirements and bureaucracies and expenses and continuous recertifications and time away from working and making a living and time away from our families and friends and time away from patient care and pointless didactics no one pays attention to and meaningless boxes to...

    National Guard

You're quite disagreeable, aren't you? Yes, some units are more squared away than others. So what? They'll still have students mostly studying at drill.

    Enlist or med school?

Read the rest of my post for why you are incorrect. You are confusing the specialty surgeon with the historical term surgeon. BTW, what branch are YOU in? And again, I am a field surgeon. I guarantee I have absolutely no general surgery training beyond the basic stuff we ALL get. And I don't...

    Decline of sleep medicine

Not only that, but current research shows that sleep disorders are at the root of many, many of today's current chronic diseases. I have a hard time getting even other doctors to wrap their heads around sleep medicine being more than just disordered breathing. I also have a hard time getting...

California wants to dumb down medical care with EVERYONE playing an MD

One of the reasons physicians don't contribute to, or work with organizations like those is that those organizations spend too much time tearing down physicians and medicine by supporting things like Obamacare. Very few physicians actually support the AMA, of which AMPAC is part. The nursing...

California wants to dumb down medical care with EVERYONE playing an MD

LOL! You have some classic lines there about physician pretenders! My state (OK) is one of only two to license optometrists to do surgery. The ODs think because they took a single, month long course alongside ophthalmologists, that this qualifies them to do surgery. And ***** politicians...
