    Post-bacc transcript request timeline

What you can control is the sending of the transcript. Be aware that failure to submit ALL transcripts will hold up verification. If you took summer classes, or classes abroad that were being offered by a school other than your own, if you took earned community college credits for courses...

    .

I was enthusiastic about it until I saw the bootleg aspect. Leave it your business.

Is shadowing necessary if tons of ED scribing plus a summer as a med asst in primary care?

I like to see shadowing for long (>6 hour) stretches at a time, particularly outside of EM, and outside of direct patient engagement. How much time away from patients is spent in documentation, advocacy for insurance coverage, Continuing Medical Education, education of trainees (in settings...

    Post-bacc transcript request timeline

Ideally, your application is verified by July 4th but if the grades in this most recent term are very important to you (offering a boost to GPA) then waiting is better. In any case, once your transcripts are submitted, you can't update them.

NYT op-ed on ethical training in medical school

I think that this kind of exercise is Bu115hit. I get what it is getting at but when a person has free will to respond in any one of a variety of ways, to limit it to 3 possible responses is not of the real world. I'd really take the results of these sorts of test with a gram of salt.

    Rochester vs SUNY for postbacc?

I can't say I've ever seen any students with post-bacs from those schools but it might be my catchment area and not the lack of students from those schools. I doubt that it would matter much if at all.

NYT op-ed on ethical training in medical school

Do you have the guts to call out a superior who you feel is doing something wrong or asking you to be complicit in that behavior. I'm thinking of a student who was horrified by the way a woman in labor was addressed by the attending physician and the demeaning things he said to her. The...

Is there such a thing as a school that doesn't require legwork for research?

Students don't generally get involved in industry sponsored clinical trials. The FDA has tons of regulations and the team members have to be registered with the IRB, spend hours in training, have a CV on file, and so forth. Most of the work is done in conjunction with clinical visits (history...

Is there such a thing as a school that doesn't require legwork for research?

I highly doubt that any medical school hands a research project to a medical student and says, "here you go, this is your research project and this is your mentor." I think that schools vary in terms of the amount of research that students can be involved in (some research at medical centers...

Do I need to have completed a bachelors degree by the time I apply or can I certify that by the time that I am due to start Med School ?

If you want to graduate college in the spring and start medical school in the fall (which is actually July at some schools) then you make your application to the medical schools, in the spring/summer the year before you graduate. The primary (also known as AMCAS) application is very time...

Why Did Carle Not Receive Full Accreditation Last Year?

If you look at the "you asked, we did it" section right below the information on accreditation, you might surmise that some of the issues were related to curriculum expansion.

You will not be verified until AMCAS has your transcript(s). Another thing.... if you took any coursework elsewhere, such as while in HS or in the summer, be sure to request those transcripts. Otherwise, you'll be asked for them later and it will slow things down.

    Non-English characters in AMCAS PS?

    "muchos anos"??

    Non-English characters in AMCAS PS?

Watch out for "ano" in Spanish. Without the tilda, those three letters mean something very different.

    Volunteer positions requiring limited interaction

Wonderful volunteer work but not what we are looking for here which is face-to-face work with people in very vulnerable populations.
