What are the benefits of doing FM over IM?

Simply put, you have a lot more clinical and non-clinical opportunities as a Family Physician than as an Internist.

Has anyone been employed by Onemedical before? What’re your thoughts?

They are a company that uses mostly NPs and PAs. They charge patients $200 per year but they don't have to pay it if they complain about it (so most don't actually pay it). They treat DOs, MDs, PAs, and NPs as equals. In other words, your office medical director- the person you report to- may be...

Question about AOA CME for California DOs

I'm a DO who is board certified by the ABFM but I have a DO license in California so I need to get 40 hours of Cat 1A or 1B AOA CME credit every 2 years. Does anyone know any free way to get this? (I'm not a member of the AOA or any other DO organization currently). Thank you!

    Non clinical Jobs for MD's?

I felt too underappreciated, over-worked, and underpaid in traditional clinical medicine. UM pays at least 50% more than clinical medicine. I work 35 hours a week from home and earn about 75% more than what I made in full time clinical practice. Now I'm finally an entirely happy person...

    Does FM require oral boards??

I took both the Osteopathic and Allopathic Family Medicine boards. The MD Family Medicine exam is just written. The DO Family Medicine exam has a written portion as well as a practical session for OMT where you do have verbal interaction with an attending conducting that portion of the exam...

I am a family doctor and I work in utilization management. There are many opportunities in this field.

Worth leaving residency if I know I won't be practicing clinical medicine?

I work in a non-clinical job. My biggest advice: finish residency and get board certified. Then you have much, much more opportunities in the non-clinical world than if you are not board certified.

    Inpatient medicine

Here's what I would suggest: Start accepting med students at your office if you aren't already so that you can get an academic appointment at a hospital. Then, request admitting privileges to a hospital with an excellent Family Medicine or IM residency program that will follow and manage all...

    DO licensing in OK

I am applying for an OK DO license. I noticed that it's a pretty archaic form. Also, they don't require a medical jurisprudence test but the MD applicants do. Does anyone know why?

    Not practicing after finishing residency

This is a much longer discussion. However, briefly, I stepped out of clinical medicine about a year ago and to this day I think it's the best professional decision I've made. Yes, I maintain all my board certifications and licenses. Like you, I was very good at clinical medicine and had good...

    Multiple State Licenses

I have 10 active state medical licenses. (I've done telemedicine, business, locums, etc). Every state is different. I agree it is less of a hassle to keep a license active rather than transition from inactive to active. Typically, if you keep up with your CME for boards you are okay for...

They were always floating around. Or, classmates divided and conquered.
