I got a 256 on Step 1, 269 on Step 2 CK, and matched at Stanford. Ask me anything!

Hey! It depends on what your goals are. I'm assuming your goal is ultimately for USMLE review but please correct me if I'm wrong. I found the BRS anatomy book to be quite off base for USMLE review and wouldn't recommend it. The review questions in BRS physiology by Costanzo are a good supplement...

I've tutored tons of students, and I do not know anyone who used Secrets for Step 2CK. I think Secrets for Step 1 is a good resource but have not fully evaluated Step 2CK Secrets. Certainly, UW and OME are excellent resources for CK. I'd recommend incorporating daily use of Anki over use of...

Based on your question I'm assuming you're a non-US IMG. It's hard to "make sure" that you're considered. Some programs simply may not consider non-US IMGs. If you have a particular program of interest, it certainly helps to have clinical experience or research experience in your department of...

It depends! Which specialty are you interested in?

Happy to help. What I'm hearing is that you're currently an MS2, 10m out from Step 1 with no anticipated dedicated, drudging through mandatory events/PhD led lectures 8-3 while studying alongside this with Zanki. Fortunately, I attended a school where most lectures were not mandatory, and...

Your resource list seems fine, though I generally recommend doing Rx before Kaplan (and Kaplan only if you have time, which I'd guess that you do). I'd recommend incorporating Anki if you haven't already. I wouldn't worry about the percent you're getting correct at all. Just make sure you make...

    Friending residents on facebook

I'm a PGY1 and occasionally am friended by students. I'd say that if you've exchanged numbers with them already, have a good and friendly rapport with them, have texted on wards, personally like them, and it feels right, go for it. It's not that weird.

    IM Podcasts

It's great! It's hosted by a surgical resident, educational, and interesting. I prefer it to sawbones as it aims to educate but is entertainig in the process (whereas sawbones seems to aim to entertain but is also educational). It can be a bit tangiential at times (the host often describes the...

I wouldn't get another stethoscope. The Littmann II is very good. Best of luck!

PML - Nonenhancing lesions on MRI?

You do not understand the terminology. Enhancing refers to lesions that take up contrast - lesions that appear brighter on T1 weighted sequences with versus without contrast. Hyperintense is a generic term used to describe any lesion that appears bright. All enhancing lessons are hyperintense on...

Any utility in retaking UWSA1 seven months later?

As a USMLE tutor, I sometimes recommend redoing an old exam if initially done a while ago. I think this likely represents an encouraging improvement. However, it is hard to say for sure. I would recommend doing some of the available NBMEs. They're not great at predicting your score, but are...
