Advice on SLP Post-Bacc / PreReqs?

I think I may be able to provide some insight. 1) Depends on the school. I knew which 2 or 3 schools I wanted to apply to and what their requirements were. i also CALLED and spoke with people to confirm I could apply without ALL of my pre- reqs done, ( I was finishing the last of them the summer...

What is your current profession? Nursing and public health will land you VERY different jobs once finished with the degree. Nursing is clinical, you will be very involved with patients all day long, sick ones. Do you love medical settings and dealing closely with people all the time? Do you love...

SLP drafuate student thinking of medical school

I am not going back to school BUT I know lots of people (check some of the non trad student forums on here)are so determined to get into med school that they stick with that path at all costs, even if it means applying multiple times. If I recall you are younger than most of the non traditional...

    Medical SLP

If you do not have SLP as a major, then linguistics, English, biology or even psychology all are related. I was an English major, and had to go back for a lot of pre reqs (for 1 year ) before grad school.

Hmm so many areas in SLP pro and con.... I LOVED working with adults, neuro, etc and was full time in home care as my last full time SLP job. I got burned out going into people's homes, many in terrible areas, many of whom had bigger problems affecting their health than the communication...

When I first graduated I sent CVs to each and every facility I was interested in working in, (by mail - this was the 1990's) and this was before applications were ALL digital. It is important to have a contact (the right contact person, if possible). With so many facilities on the web with...

    Too old for dental school?

As of now for pre reqs I Am ONLY looking at CUNY schools (Hunter has one) at the moment - they have a "cert program in post bacc pre health sciences" .... but a friend who went through it told me I may not...

    Too old for dental school?

Understood - I know well all about post doc residency because I work for a large post doc residency program. I am also familiar with the debt load, from our incoming residents (we have more than 200) Ours pay salary since they are hospital sponsored : ) The debt potential is a major...
