Without getting credit for that intern year of FM residency you are going to be back in applying for a PGY-1 position in the Match. Is there anyway you can appeal or ask to get credit for that year? If you had credit for that year that would open other doors to apply for a PGY-2 position, get a...
Very rarely is the first DUI the first time they have ever made the poor decision to drive impaired but only the first time they got caught. It displays bad decision making at best and callous disregard for human life at worst, not qualities we look for in new physicians.
Basically impossible to compare to other schools as the location and specialty are not linked.
My take always are that almost 70% of students from the Pomona campus matched in California. The ability to place students into California residency programs continues to be one of the biggest...
An unfortunate weakness of EM is the reliance on healthcare infrastructure. You basically have to work at an emergency department. Unlike IM, Peds, FM, etc there is little outpatient or private practice opportunities. EM may have to do a fellowship just to have marketable skills outside the ED...
Each state has their own requirements for unrestricted medical license. They require between 1-3 years of post graduate training to be eligible. Your training license is not your unrestricted medical license. You get that later either while in residency or after.

I emailed questions to residents and faculty after interviews as needed but not generic...

Just received a phone call from the area code of my number one choice... my heart started racing. Would they call early? What is this about?
Turns out Suzanne was just really concerned about my cars expired warranty. Not now Suzanne!
I am excited to have matched to a civilian family medicine residency for the upcoming academic year. I have been working as a general medical officer in the Navy since completing a military family medicine internship in 2017. My patient panel has been made up entirely of mostly healthy active...
Is anyone else planning or temped to plan a vacation? I have been agonizing over it for months. We are trying to be pandemic safe but we feel we really need a break before diving into residency? I have been vaccinated but my wife and kids have not. I honestly can’t stop day dreaming of a...
I am a residency applicant for the upcoming match. I think the rest of my life story, as interesting as it may be, isn’t really relevant to the topic.
I agree that we have no leverage or power to negotiate these contracts. The only thing we can do is read and understand them and them use that...
On mobile so I apologize for any misspellings/autocorrect.
I agree that the pay and vacation/medical leave portions are more broadly relevant to most people. Everyone should look at those. I wanted to highlight other parts of these prospective contracts that may be overlooked.
