    Having kids during med school?

I know I am going to have a hard time leaving my son when he is a newborn - I get incredibly protective of my newborns. I didn't leave my girls for any length of time until they were a few months old. I think the key to making it work is making sure you find a childcare situation that you are...

    Having kids during med school?

I have two daughters (3 and 5) and am pregnant with #3 due in March. I'm a second year med student. The third kid is going to add some additional challenges (ie pumping during rotations third year) but it will work out. Honestly, there are pros and cons to whenever you decide to have kids...

how do mothers get along in med school?

I'm a second year medical student, mom of two little girls (3 and 5 years old) with #3 on the way. Obviously first year wasn't too bad or I wouldn't be attempting to do this with another one. It's going to be completely different for everyone. I can study well with noise and children...

Random non–MCAT and only peripherally related to the MCAT thread Part XXX!

Yeah I am sad at what has become of the random thread. We all got too busy with school. I go back on Monday. :(  :scared: And I'm pregnant again so this year (and next) and going to be quite different.

    ACOG resident survey

I got that survey too and I like the idea right now as I am currently interested in MFM. After this type of training would the physician still be double boarded? It would seem a little strange with MFM if you lose a year of the general ob/gyn residency and would not be as well trained in...

    Physio Shelf

LOL yeah I walked out of the physio shelf feeling pretty lousy. After the first page of questions I think my brain kind of shut down because I realized it wasn't going to help me. ;) I ended up doing pretty decently on it, though - go figure!! Your percentile might surprise you.

Does marriage affect performance? (regarding grades, scores, etc.)

I am female, married, with two young daughters (2.5 and 4.5). I don't expect to be AOA but I'm doing well in my classes. I actually think I have it easier than some of my classmates in terms of relationships. You know early on in a relationship when you have to spend every minute with someone...

    Your school's testing schedule

Tons of exams first year here. First semester we had 8 classes simultaneously (2 that didn't have traditional exams so really 6 "real" classes). There were only two weeks (after the first couple weeks) that we didn't have an exam and often we would have 2 exams in one week. There was a period in...

    UNSOM Class of 2012!!

Most people live pretty close to school - within a few miles. There are a handful who are further away. The McQueen area is great - I feel very safe in that area, there are lots of new apartments and only about a 5-10 minute drive to school. Lots of people live in apartments/rentals around...

    Anything UNSOM

I don't know for sure but it could be true. A lot of the people in our class who got January acceptances had interviews pretty early on. Of course, I know a person in our class with phenomenal stats who got a later acceptance (but that was a late application). But on the flip side, I'm only...

    Anything UNSOM

The highest I know of is covering first year tuition - around $12000. I know others who have half that amount. And almost everyone gets some need-based financial aid, some pretty large amounts from what I've heard.

Congrats to those of you that have acceptances! Post here or PM me if you have any questions about the school. The school has its pluses and minuses but overall I'm very happy here. :)

    Anything UNSOM

Don't freak out yet. I talked to a friend who got her acceptance in January - it took a few days for the acceptance letter to get to LV.
