Non-clinical supplemental income opportunities for neurologist

How about utilization management/chart review/peer-to-peer for insurance companies? Has anyone done this? There are even full-time positions available.

Any plan to buy real estate this year...

Thanks, how do you manage the out of state properties? Is everything you own within driving distance, or do you employ property managers? And while buying such properties, do you purchase them sight unseen, or make time to travel and look at multiple ones in an area over the course of a few...

Any plan to buy real estate this year...

Do you buy out of state? Or all local? Also: pay cash if you have it? Or always go with a mortgage?

    Nonqualified deferred compensation plans

What's everyone's thoughts on nonqualified deferred compensation (NQCD) plans? Worth contributing to or no great advantage? And if it's a good option, when would you request distribution? And another question: I understand that 457bs are a type of NQCDs, but 457bs have an annual contribution...

    locums offers

Thanks for sharing your experiences, it's nice to get feedback from someone who did it for a while. I did my share of locums in the past, but honestly, it get harder as you get older. The frequent traveling, living in hotels, learning new EMRs, and constantly re-introducing yourself in new...

    locums offers

I remember that you were working (I believe) full-time teleneurology at one point? Did it not work out?

    Neurophysiology Board Question - opinion

Yes, the Neurophysiology certification will be invaluable if you're considering ever going into IOM. And immediately post-graduation is the optimal time to take the Boards. Also, as a 1099, Board exam fees should be tax-deductible as a business expense. I don't believe you need to pay the Board...

Sure, they *say* that, but do they really mean it?

Can you work fully remotely in neurology?

I suppose one could stay at an Extended Stay or short-term housing of some kind for those 3-4 continuous months that you do locums/teleneurology in the US, but that sounds dreadful.

Can you work fully remotely in neurology?

Do they have a home base/office in the US? I suppose you could also do teleneurology when you're in the US for a few months. But it would require some kind of US support system.

Can you work fully remotely in neurology?

    This is very disappointing.

Can you work fully remotely in neurology?

So would it be safe to perform teleneurology outside the US for one of the companies that allow it, presuming that they are not billing Medicare/Medicaid patients or have taken some other steps to prevent insurance fraud? Or is it simply not worth it? Are there reputable companies that allow it?

Can you work fully remotely in neurology?

Does this step happen? I'm not saying it does not, but I have worked locums jobs where the client hospitals wanted me to do neurology consults but didn't bother to bill for my services; to them it was more important to be able to keep the patient in-house and bill for the admission, imaging and...

Can you work fully remotely in neurology?

But physicians would still need to be American board-certified and hold licenses in the states that the patients are located in, so would it be that easy for the teleneurology companies to outsource? Also if I understand correctly, the teleneurology companies bill the hospitals and not the...

Can you work fully remotely in neurology?

Is it feasible to live outside the US and do remote teleneurology work? From what I hear most companies do not allow it. But legally, is it possible? As long as the physician is licensed in the state that the patient is located in, that should be fine, shouldn't it? EDIT: Okay, going back to...
