    LA-PMR?

Forgive my ignorance, but what the heck is this? Graduated residency 2021 and passed my two boards. Why am I getting emails for this? Is it necessary? Just another money grab by ABPMR?

Independent contractor schedule and patient load

I worked with Encompass out of residency for almost 2 years. Midatlantic region, within 30 min to 1 hr of a major city so not totally in the sticks. Daily schedule: show up at 830-9AM to start rounding a bit. Go to morning medical meeting to get (mostly outdated) nursing updates on patients at...

Inpatient rehab under a consultant model

I've seen some independent contractor inpatient rehab positions (including with Encompass) advertised which have PM&R as consultants and Internal handling "attending duties". So with this model, IM does all admissions/bills 99223? And PM&R only bills for initial consults? And would PM&R still...

    Failed Oral Boards

I believe it is very subjective and chock full of bias.

    Failed Oral Boards

It's a strange exam also because there's still no real good prep material for it. You have the Mayer book but it's overkill with the amount of cases in it and a lot of times the answers they have do not match the actual format of the test. I would recommend using the PMR Recap oral boards cases...

    Regret Choosing PM&R?

Opposite. I'm glad I didn't get swayed by the med school/academic world's proclivity for "prestigious" specialties. And on that note, I'm glad I didn't force myself to do a fellowship after residency either (best financial decision I've ever made BTW, especially well-timed with the COVID student...

    PM&R Residency - SAEs

PM&R Recap helped me greatly with EMG/neuropathy/myopathy questions. Way better than Cucc

    PM&R Part 1 Boards

PM&R Recap helped with EMGs, neuropathies/myopathies the most for me. Broke it down into easy to digest basics because Cuccurullo's chapters on them are a disorganized mess. So I would say worth a buy. I think I bought the PM&R Qbank too

ABPM&R part 2 oral boards fail rate

The only way meaningful change will occur is if us attendings write to this org and press them with our thoughts. Petitions are just mickey mouse BS in the end.

    IRF Weekend Rounding/Coverage

Round, write notes, prep admissions and leave. Admissions will typically start coming in after 1PM so I see them the next day. I have never had to go back into the hospital after leaving in the first place thus far.

    Is PM&R Boring?

Previous posters have already explained well enough that everything in medicine will get boring in the daily grind. But I'll specifically address this question. I'm doing inpatient rehab and the most challenging and rewarding aspect of the job is figuring out how to get the patients who are...

Inpatient Acute Rehab New York metro

Certainly I get Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Queens. But even out in Long Island? Not a single for-profit IRF? Is the academic stranglehold that strong on that area?
