Hard to deny QOL in countries like Sweden which offer 480 days of parental leave, but with that also comes some of the highest taxes in the world and an average after taxes income of about 30k.

This is my opinion having spent 15 years of my life living in South America, the Caribbean and Europe. Economic and professional opportunities in the US are much more achievable than any place I can think of, especially as a physician.

1000% I am not saying Japan is better place to live by any means. There is not a single place in the world better than the USA. Doesn’t mean there are not lessons to be learned. We are certainly not perfect.
