Difficulty of TPE diagnostics compared to real MCAT???

Yep. Each of the TPR diagnostic exams is substantially more difficult than the operational MCAT.

Shed any light on TPR FL's?

Wanderlust, it is true that the diags (practice tests, to the rest of the world) are harder than AAMC tests; it is not true that this is intended to keep people from getting their money back. (We really don't have to worry about that, as anyone who otherwise qualifies for the guarantee is...

    Princeton books vs. Berkeley Review

I thought you'd worked it out already -- it's not as if I keep it a secret. I have been assuming I know who you are, too, though it's less obvious. 6 o'clock?

    Ek vs Kaplan...

Surgical, I think you're going a bit overboard here. We (TPR) do include a lot of material, perhaps too much, in some of our texts, particularly biology, but it has nothing to do with filling class time -- our syllabus is not based on the textbooks. For example, is it bad for us to show the...

    Princeton books vs. Berkeley Review

I've never met any student who likes our (TPR's) biology book, and I agree that some things could be explained better, that some of the illustrations could use work, and that we may go into too much detail in some areas. Clearly it is not a fun read, either. However, I'm not sure what the best...

Did The Princeton Review just screw me?

I don't know the details -- it's not my area -- but I've always thought access was open for six months from the conclusion of course. If other students are seeing a year, it probably is a year; it's not uncommon for a technical gremlin to mess with your login, and that's probably what happened...

    Question About Work-Net

    Physics question thread

Quick, qualitative approach to the crane problem: work is the tendency of a force to speed something up (more technically, to increase its kinetic energy). the beam didn't speed up or slow down: it went from rest to rest. hence, no net work done.

    Ultimate MCAT???

Polynikes, I've sat in stunned silence for a while -- we get that you don't think it would be a good idea, but the venom in your postings is hard to understand. Don't you believe there are some people whose scores would be benefited by intensive help? Shouldn't those people, if they can afford...

    perfectly inelastic vs. inelastic collisions

All the replies above are correct: all inelastic collisions involve a loss of KE. I'll add, however, that perfectly inelastic collision -- those after which the objects stick together -- produce the maximum possible loss of KE (consistent with conservation of momentum).

What's a point on the MCAT worth?

The problem with that approach is exactly what you mention: higher MCAT scores are definitely correlated with greater strength in other areas. That's the kind of approach I would have taken when I was at Booz-Allen, where we were paid a lot of money to use whatever assumptions it took to prove...

What's a point on the MCAT worth?

My first calculations produced a value per point of $11,919. Here are the assumptions I used: Scores and acceptance Score range (highest to lowest conceivable scores): 10 Chance of acceptance with lowest conceivable score: 10% Chance of acceptance with lowest conceivable score: 70%...

What's a point on the MCAT worth?

If you had the money (or the borrowing power) what would or should you pay for an additional point on the MCAT? That depends on what it's worth to be a doctor, and how the incremental point affects your chances. There's no way to estimate the intangible value of getting into medical school...

    # of passages for each section.

There are seven passages per section; all of those ranges you've heard were based on guesses, but now we know the answers. In the sciences, those seven passages are augmented with free-standing questions, usually thirteen per section. Good luck.
