    AMCAS Race/Ethnicity Question

I'm not sure anyone will accuse you of lying - this is really an issue of self-identification. If you have a Latin surname, or would easily pass as Latino (what others see), you might identify if for no other reason than to mitigate risk of unconscious bias. Otherwise, I'm not sure there is a...

MD WAMC: 4.0 515, horrific ECs, radio silence expected right?

Your story makes for a great narrative and is probably worth more than a superficial clinical experience. With your GPA, your app should get a second look where it is actually read. Don't underestimate your value.

MD WAMC: 4.0 515, horrific ECs, radio silence expected right?

Honestly, I don't see how this is a terrible app. Not everyone has the opportunity (for a variety of reasons) to do 100's of hours of medical (or any other) volunteering.

Incoming DO Student- Feasibility of Med/Peds Residency?

As a DO, and former Med-Peds PD, I'd broadly say that being a little above average helps. The stats make things seem more competitive than they really are; PD's have discussed how average board scores in matriculating residents may frighten people away. I agree with this entirely. The most...

Medical Do you have to apply for licensure in the state you do residency in?

As most people have replied - it depends. Here in WI you are covered under an institutional training permit but are expected to apply for an unrestricted license after completing PGY1 and passing step/level 3. Other states (South Dakota [or is it ND?], for example, do not require one. Our...

    No interview after audition

I wouldn't be surprised. They're really getting burned on MedTwitter.

    No interview after audition

There have been a number of reports in social media about LOR and PS' not being received by programs due to a glitch in ERAS. You should write a short, polite email asking about the status of your application, and reported problems, 'just checking' . Documents were assigned but never...

Medical Readmission after Dismissal from Medical School

Especially #2. I also wonder about the choice of anticipated specialty. I presume the specialty is competetive for MD's as well; they might need to be outstanding in medical school. Given the average-ish MCAT score, and what happened before failing out, an ultracompetitive specialty may not be...

Depends on your practice. One of my partners mostly did ultrasound; not sure I ever saw his signature on anything else. The neuroimaging people rarely had to cover general radiology.

Radiation...only radiation exposure would be doing fluoroscopic procedures, which are not so common nowadays. Interventional cardiology, on the other hand, can get some really serious exposure. Not sure about your reluctance to consider Derm. Even residency has favorable hours. And a Mohs...

School mandated vendor for medical equipment purchases for 1st year?

The punative action is if you show up with noncompliant equipment. Pretty clear in the letter.
