Matched to prelim only, would love anyones thoughts on reapplying to residency during prelim year

That totally sucks, and I’m very sorry. Unfortunately, Neuro doesn’t weigh “stats” as heavily as other fields and instead relies more heavily on interview and resident interactions I believe you should try SOAPing to all 3 neuro positions—even if they’re in places you don’t want to live...

    Pediatrics Internship Survival Guide?

Hey SDN, The stickied thread from '07 has some useful tips for those starting peds internship; however, I have been trying to find just like a handbook or something for new peds interns. Is there any like pediatric intern survival guide y'all have access to or know of? I saw one from WashU on...

Does URM status matter for residency

It does not matter as much for residency, though it should. Programs say they want to be diverse, but they more often than not take the most competitive candidates over the most diverse candidates. Does change by institution. Note to everyone here: being underpresented in medicine means that we...

Finishing 4 years of therapy right now. Totally was necessary. Please do it.

    WAMC? 517/3.8

You're overapplying, but I can't blame anyone for that. Just be ready to write the hell out of some secondary essays...

What are some examples of “special masters programs” that prepare candidates for health professions?

There are many. They are mostly to boost your GPA and prove you can handle graduate level coursework. If I had to do one, I would get one in biostats or a masters of science in research. Everyone and their mother can memorize things in medical school; we need more people to crunch research data!

MD & DO co'21 Residency Panic thread

Hey Frogger, if your webcame is < 720P I would buy one. If you have something like a macbook from the last 3 years, that's all standard. My wife has a 720P camera and bought a 1080P webcam, and, to be honest, it does not look as good in interviews as just her computer's cam... so for us at...

MD & DO co'21 Residency Panic thread

We were interviewing in New York and were both from the same area. We talked a few times through the day--all professional. I asked her that if she would be willing to let me drive home with her (so that I wouldn't have to take a Megabus), and she responded that she was going to ask me the same...

    Good/Avg Board Scores - No Pubs - What Can I Do :(

Hey SDN, I'm applying into Med-Peds this upcoming fall, and I have a 235-240 step 1 score and a 250-255 step 2 score. As far as those board scores alone are concerned, I'm right at the average of a matched allopathic Med-Peds resident. That being said, I am not a researcher. I have had a...

    ERAS 'Publications' Listing FAQ

I know this perhaps will be seen by some as silly, but I have no scientific publications and I need help. I was a BA, and I had a writing piece published in my university’s literary journal. Then, it was published in a book. Am I allowed to include this literary publication on ERAS? Second, I...
