    G2211 reimbursement

If a -25 modifier is used, then G2211 cannot be billed. https://www.aafp.org/family-physician/practice-and-career/getting-paid/coding/evaluation-management/G2211-what-it-is-and-how-to-use-it.html

    G2211 reimbursement

Medicare, medicare advantage, and UHC commercial and exchange are paying G2211. I hear Humana commercial is as well but my area does not have any humana commercial patients. https://www.aafp.org/pubs/fpm/blogs/gettingpaid/entry/g2211-payment.html

    Is outpatient really that bad?

I have heard of these types of positions with GI as well. I agree with you. I need some variety. I could definitely see doing this as a good way to wind down my career prior to retirement.

    FTC rule on non-competes!

Physicians that are hired by "x group LLC or whatever" that contracts with the hospital are definitely covered by these FTC rules. From a not-for-profit standpoint, the courts will make the determination about how applicable it is. Fingers crossed that it does end up applying to physicians at...

    FTC rule on non-competes!

I have seen the highlights the from the extensive document that the FTC put out. They believe that this rule is applicable to not-for-profit hospitals. Hopefully the courts will agree with this. I feel like it will be a long road before this is applicable to most physicians.

    FTC rule on non-competes!

It will be interesting to see if or how this will apply to not-for-profit/non-profit entities.

What is important to look for in General IM jobs?

Agree. 300 work days per year is crazy high. Math would be more accurate around at 230 to 240 work days per year unless your working weekends as a PCP. Many private practice PCPs are joining IPAs (independent physician alliance) to negotiate better rates and quality payments from your MA...

I’m hearing so many mixed things about primary care .. help

I agree. 8 to 10 in a half day is fine but I could not do a full day with this few of patients

I’m hearing so many mixed things about primary care .. help

Primary care is really whatever you want to make it. You have to shape your clinic and your patient panel to how you want it. You also have to set expectations with patients and stick with those. I am a hospital employ but the clinic is run like private practice with full autonomy over...

    Finding a good PCP job

Use your connections from residency. Talk to your attendings and PD especially if you want to stay in the area that you trained. If you are looking for a position outside of where you trained, it does get more difficult. You can find jobs through recruiters, job listing sites, calling clinics...

Am I crazy for thinking that hospital medicine is one of the best lifestyle specialties?

Woo 30+ per day is a lot. I am still seeing 4 to 5 new patients per day so I do not want to see more than 22. I will move to 22 to 26 once I am only taking one or no new patients a day. I bill appropriately so I don't have a reason to really see more than 26. I am more than pleased with my...

Am I crazy for thinking that hospital medicine is one of the best lifestyle specialties?

This is why I have mentioned patient expectations in my previous post. I let the patient choose one or two problems to discuss which allows me time to discuss a more important issue if needed. If you have multiple problems that all need management, then we are following up very close and regular...

Am I crazy for thinking that hospital medicine is one of the best lifestyle specialties?

It is one thing if it is a basic form that needs to be signed. FMLA paperwork, short-term disability paperwork, recertification for long-term disability, etc should not be done without a patient in office at least in my opinion. Many of these forms are legal documents so you are attesting to the...

Am I crazy for thinking that hospital medicine is one of the best lifestyle specialties?

The key to primary care is efficiency as well as setting patient expectations. You have to have a good nurse and MA to take the load off of you. The only refill request that I deal with are for controlled substances. My nurse either refills as appropriate or requires follow up. Portal messages...
