Can people match directly in to a PGY2 year the upcoming July if they are completing a PGY1 year that year or will they have to wait until the following year to start? Just curious what I would do if I had to wait another year.

You could also just make yourself known to the pathology department there. Look at peripheral smears on your patients with interesting findings. Follow up on biopsies, etc.

I often think that means call is divided among four people but as people say call can mean a different things to different groups.

I've read it may be multifactorial. There have been a lot of new residency programs opening (HCA opened a lot in their hospitals in FL) and EM may be seen as less desirable as so many jobs are working for private equity owned groups.

How did Pathology fare this year in the match? Word on the street is nearly 20% of emergency medicine programs did not fill.
