Just curious!
I understand that you shouldn't treat hyperkalemia with calcium gluconate in patients with digoxin toxicity due to the possibility of causing stone heart. My question is, if you have a patient with hyperkalemia secondary to rhabdomyolysis with EKG changes that is incidentally on digoxin, can you treat them with calcium gluconate initially to stabilize the membrane?
Thanks!
