Good morning gang,

I am starting internal medicine residency at a community program. I planned on being a hospitalist but decided to pursue heme onc. I passed comlex 1 on my first try and got a mediocre comlex 2 score. I am currently studying for Step 2 and plan on taking it in June before I start residency. I'm not sure what else to do to gear my application towards a heme/onc fellowship at this point. Also, do I need step 3? I don't think I can take that since I haven't taken step 1.

Thank you

First, be a good resident. Be punctual, well-read, work hard, be polite, don't drink and drive, mind your genitals, don't pick fights.

Second, do Heme/Onc rotations (both inpatient and outpatient), find good mentors, figure out if it really is what you want to do.

Third, apply.
