  1. 3.40 cGPA /3.67 sGPA. Majored in Economics, did quite poorly my first 2.5 years as I did not have the intention of studying medicine and worked during the week and weekends. Last 60 credits of all science prerequisites were 3.93 gpa.
  2. 505, was scoring much better on practices (516 avg), had a nasty ear infection on test date and I guess it impacted my performance significantly. Will retake but not sure whether to take time and reapply next cycle.
  3. Florida
  4. Hispanic, fluent in Spanish and French
  5. Florida Public School
  6. 400 Clinical Volunteer hours working at a Hispanic community clinic and with the VA.
  7. At least 1000 hours working public health research with The Global Fund on HIV and TB projects.
  8. Shadowed 60 hours. Was able to participate in roundings and speak to patient families as interpreter at times.
  9. 250 non clinical tutoring low income hispanic students and working with non profit foundation for epilepsy.
  10. Worked 2 years with a local mortgage bank helping hispanic borrowers facing barriers to non predatory financing, strong customer facing role and leadership as I managed a team 6. Worked at food distribution center and as photographer on weekends as well.
  11. Call to medicine revolves around sibling with epilepsy and CP, was very involved in medical process from a young age.

Thank you. Do you recommend retaking (possibly July 13th) and applying this cycle? Pretty bummed out with score release, was expecting a better score.

You could apply to one throwaway school in June and wait until your new score is available in August and decide on more schools depending what your new score is.

I was considering that as I am confident I can do better on the retake. My only worry is timing, would I be in an unfavorable position with a July test date?

If you retake mid July your score will not be available until mid August. That is late to submit your primary for MD schools but fine for DO schools.

Thanks again Faha. I've scheduled the retake for July and put everything aside till then to focus on doing well.

I have read through a few recommendations @Goro has made and my understanding is if application is complete no later than Labor Day I am technically still "on time". I realize it is not the ideal situation, however, I feel ready to apply this cycle. I also understand that this plan leaves very little room for failure.

I am planning on having my primary in by mid June, working on finishing up my activities section and PS. Is that reasonable goal, or should I am for earlier?

You have a generally strong application even though the MCAT is lower than you'd want it to be. I think it's generally a reasonable goal but check if you have to take Casper or any RVI's (2024-2025 list of schools and their SJTs). It looks like PREview scores are used for 'research' but not required at Florida programs, but this could change.
