My son is going to apply to med schools in the next cycle (2025 June). We are moving to California by Jan 2025 from out of state. He will continue his senior year undergrad school outside CA.
Can we declare CA as the state of residence for him while applying for medical schools ? We, parents would have lived in CA for about 5 months by then. (the application date).
I understand student (if financially independent) or parents have to be physically present in California for 12 months to be eligible for in-state tuition by the residency determination date usually the 1st day of school (that will be fall 2026). That’s for tuition purposes but my question is for instate eligibility for admission purposes.
