Where do you (personally) draw the line to attendings?

To be honest, it kind of sounds like this person is not trying to be a jackass...but rather to push you in a good way. It may feel like targeting and humiliation, but he is really trying to just put you on the spot where you will be and should be in a mere 1.5 years (or less). Especially when...

HHMI Research Training Fellowships for Medical Students

What do you mean by "it's here!" Good luck, also :)

    Research at an away school

Your best bet is to find a lab at the away med school that you are intersted in working with and contact the PI directly regarding research funding. I know that my school will not support me financially over the summer for work that I do at an away location...I am assuming that is pretty much...

    Good laptop computer?

 I love my iBook 14". Cheaper than the powerbook. I bought the most highly pimped iBook + Apple Care Protection + printer (super deals on rebates right now) + a few accessories that weren't *totally* necessary (but fun!) and spent just under $2000 with the student discount. Highly...

Can the little kiddies please put their "xyz c/o '09" somewhere else

Although technically I should be on the pre-MS1 side as I myself am still 2 months shy of being a real, actual student...I am going to have to go ahead and agree with TypeB here. I like to come here and read about the issues current med students are dealing with and all this c/o stuff that...

    Car Suggestions?

So I will be starting med school in the fall and a car is basically essential (Denver, CO) I grew up there...so I know this! I would love to go without, but it is not going to happen. I need a car that will be reliable and sensible (low insurance) around ~$8-9000 and last 5+ years. I have...

Class of 2009 University of Colorado

I haven't checked in with this thread for awhile! Good luck to everyone interviewing and waiting to hear :) My guess is that they are done sending out invites this year...but I could be wrong. I don't think there is anything else we need to do for financial aid at this point, my FAFSA...

Class of 2009 University of Colorado

I do know that the new campus is not really coming along (at least the med student classroom building)...apparently, it will not be ready until 2007, at which point we will no longer be in classrooms! Our class will have all basic science classes at the old 9th avenue campus...

Class of 2009 University of Colorado

Hey! I am heading to CO in the fall and can't wait to get back :) I might go to the April pre-orientation, although I live in Boston, so I haven't decided. So, what do you know about the new curriculum? I interviewed last year (deferred) and they weren't saying too much about it at that...

    Deferring Acceptances

Yes. Yes. The re-application is a formality and probably just part of the bookkeeping/bureaucratics of the med school. The application fee is waived.

    i lost my motivation

That is so lame and paranoid of you to say! SDN has become like this lately and it drives me crazy...it seems that people are more likely to try and "expose" someone than to actually lend a hand. So what if the OP is fishing for essay help (which I don't think they are), others reading these...

Becoming a Texas or Colorado resident?

Residency for tuition purposes is very different from just plain old state residency you get just by paying taxes and having and address. Go to UCHSC's website and check it out, they might have guidelines on the website for obtaining residency for tuition purposes. If not, as with almost every...

    Suit Zoot Riot

bearpaw, May I ask why you are attacking this person's musical taste and grammar? She wants to know about suits. OP - check out Lerner New York (I think it might be called New York and Co. now) they have decent suits at great prices. That is where I got mine and it has served me well :)

"easiest" med schools to get in?

The other tough thing about UMASS is that you have to have lived in the state for 5 years before you are considered a resident for their tuition purposes. Most places only require a year, I believe.
