    Those who interviewed at UMich

If you show up on time, everyone will be sitting in a conference room right in front of the door you enter (Medical Science Bldg II, I believe), you can't miss it. Otherwise just pop into the admissions office (just to the right of the conference room) and they'll give you directions.

    U.Michigan: Lack of Diversity?

I think I can end this debate pretty easily. The people who were invited to these early interviews (myself included), many without having submitted secondaries or letters of rec, are generally people with high MCAT scores and GPAs (I believe there's a cutoff somewhere around 3.7/33). That would...

    First Interview Invitation Received

thanks all... mws99: they gave 6 dates, 3 in September and 3 in October, and I called today and they gave me the one I wanted (Sept. 20th). I still have to send in the secondary & recs & a photo before the interview happens, though.

    First Interview Invitation Received

    I think in-staters above a certain cutoff (I heard 3.5/33) get automatic invitations -- but I'm not sure...anyone?

what kind of doctor gets paid the most and has the least work?

Whatever. It's a valid question, and some of us who care about family and religion (which are both quite time-consuming when done right) want to know what fields allow for a comfortable life without terrible sacrifices. I'm all about ALLERGY. 3 years peds or internal medicine, 2 years...

Secondaries / letters of rec timing question

My question is, I'm leaving the country on July 30th, and I asked my professors to finish their letters or rec (okay, I was lazy about it) by the time I return (September 15th or so). Should I send out secondaries (such as Cornell, which is the only invitation I've got so far) before I leave...

    overseas medical school : Israel

You're referring to Tel Aviv University's Sackler School of Medicine. The link to the joint US/Israel program they offer is http://www.tau.ac.il/medicine/NYprog/NYprog.html. I really don't know all that much about the program, but I'm very interested if anyone has any input.

    Reputations

US News residency rankings are pretty accurate, as long as you remember that East Coast residency programs are prejudiced against midwesterners (even great schools like Umich, Pritzker, and Case).

    MSU or Wayne

Wayne State = great clinical, not-so-great environment (though Detroit's downtown is making a comeback) MSU = liberaly, care-ish school, green campus. Wayne has a better rep than MSU, neither are very well known out-of-state. -aqua
