Other OT-Related Information OT vs SLP

Salaries are dependent on what setting you are in. Home health 100k is okay. However, it's a lot of work. Also, the availability of jobs may be an issue. Less pay/jobs in desirable areas etc. Looks like I have to work harder every year to make the same amount of money. Not sure if OT-specific...

    OT vs SLP

I think financially all the therapies are not big money makers. SLP seems to have more jobs where I am at. It will depend on the setting you work in. I currently make about 100k as an OT but I work for it.

Most agencies are only letting you do 3. Some only 2. There used to be a lot of PRN work in SNF in the...

Employment & Professional Networking Current OT's.. Is it worth it?

I have more debt than you. I like OT, but more recently there has been more fluctuation in caseload. I used to make 95k to 100k easily. I expect 70k this year with more work.

General Admissions & OTCAS Best course of action for pursuing an OTD?

80k year is too much for OT. The name recognition may not matter much depending on where she would like to work. SNF or a big-name hospital. I am not too familiar with the CA schools besides St. Augustine. They will teach you well, but it is too expensive. It should be your last choice. Avoid...

I think a lot of them have it or at least have a class pic with the long coat. Never wore it in practice. Looks dumb as heck.

Employment & Professional Networking Registered OT’s.. how long did it take you to get your first job?

I was wondering how long and what hourly rates are being given to you guys. I spoke to a newly licensed OT. 2 months to get into SNF. 35 hr. The market seems pretty soft.
