Hi
I was wondering if anyone here is interested in combining public health with EM. I would think working as an EM physician would provide with a special position to affect public health in the community. I am personally interested in access to health (uninsured), prevention, quality...
This is exactly what I'm talking about. The fight goes on and on. I don't mean to take one side vs the other. But as an intern you're simply relaying what one attending wants to another attending. Of course you care about your patient and wants what is best ... but regardless the ultimate...
Working in the ED, I keep getting stuck in the fiery arguments between services. Trauma doesn't want to admit, Neurosurg says discharge, ED says admit, be a patient advocate. Seems like as an intern you are set-up to be the town's idiot.
Or sometimes I get yelled at cuz i don't give a patient...

Is it a match violation if you find another resident to trade spots with you for residency?
I have no idea why this year was so competitive. But I can say that you can't bet on a magic number because next year might even be more competitive. Are we catching up to radiology? :scared:
Some residency programs deliberately choose to have small rank lists. My guess is they do so to have their pick of scramblers (some of them are extremely good candidates who made poor rank list choices). Before march 15th, I would never have thought matching was such a political game...
Family reasons. My mother is in poor health and I'd like to be around in case anything happens. I realize that it will be poor form to transfer and it is unlikely that I will able to transfer. However, what if I find an open PGY 2 spot? (I think there was one last year at loma linda) Would I...
