    School list help(3.5, 513)

Get rid of Rush. They expect(and get ) hundreds if not thousands of hours of service hours from their applicants. You seem to have 48. You need about 150+ or you might be screened out. You also need about 35 more hours of shadowing. Find a primary care doc to shadow.

Low stat WAMC and School list help

I didn’t mean talking to students. I meant talking to staff in the admissions offices. Since you don’t really seem to want to share with us what your application looks like, there really isn’t much advice we can give you. One thing you did mention is applying late(December). Don’t do that...

No non-clinical volunteering on my app, will it hurt me?

Think about moving the highlighted activities to nonclinical volunteering. Although it sounds clinical it focuses on areas that are unserved/underserved. Just a thought. You do need nonclinical volunteering. Without it you might be screened out.

Low stat WAMC and School list help

What have you done to significantly improve your application? Did you talk to people at the school you interviewed at and then were rejected? What did they have to say? It might help if you shared more about your activities? Have you shadowed a DO? You say you have lots of shadowing. What else...

HELP: Do schools know about past acceptances?

What makes them think reapplying would yield different results. Don’t give up an acceptance. Take out loans like everyone else does. Go be a doctor. Congratulations.

    Such a good explanation.

I was just going to ask the same thing. OP it’s important for you to meet with the Director of Admissions and discusss your application.

    Pandemic wiped away clinical opportunities

You do realize the vast majority of the other applicants will have clinical experiences way more than you do. The pandemic dates you listed were 4 years ago. What have you done clinically since 2022? Are you aware that each year only around 40% of all applicants are accepted to any med school...

MD Discussion concluded, MCAT question concerning acceptances

What is the “rock climbing wall” you consider service to the unserved/underserved? Why not a PhD? You might be asked why MD and not PhD. Your clinical hours are pretty low. Projected hours really aren’t looked at kindly, but after you collect 100+ you could do an update if a decision...

High Undergraduate GPA, Low Masters GPA

Well you didn’t give even a hint of what those many thousands of hours of clinical and volunteer hours included. Was your work as a MA the 2000 clinical hours? Do you have 50 hours of shadowing(that’s all you need) including some with a primary care doc? What did you do for nonclinical...

High Undergraduate GPA, Low Masters GPA

How are your expected med school ECs? I’m not sure why you are jumping right into med school applications. What makes you think you want another 7+ years of schooling and training. What’s your MCAT? Maybe slow down, try out something in AI long term and see what develops. In the meantime fill...

WAMC? 508/3.33 ORM, FL resident, Reapplicant

What reasons were you given for your rejection from ED at your undergrad? It is customary to have a conference with the Dean before you apply ED? Did you do that? Your list needs some heavy editing. I’ll start- Morehouse, Meherry and Howard focus on African Americans. SIU has a specific...

    Huge upward GPA trend

And everyone is expected to do well in grad programs. And MD schools don’t figure gGPAs into your cGPA. But interestingly, DO schools do.

    Huge upward GPA trend

Read this article posted by @LizzyM last week. It really explains the intended focus of nonclinical volunteering. https://forums.studentdoctor.net/threads/thought-provoking-op-ed-and-why-community-service-to-the-vulnerable-matters.1493887/#post-24289295

    Huge upward GPA trend

You probably only have 55 hours that can be considered as nonclinical volunteering, and that’s because they are from working with prisoners. Your other tutoring is tutoring, and the other stuff is already being counted as clinical experiences, I think.
