    University of Indiana

I am actually in this program. I would encourage you to apply. It was a more competitive class this year, having accepted something like 7 or 8 FMGs, which is a difference from last year. Still, there are many US IMG's in our program, and everyone fits in nicely. Its a great program.

    Robert Wood Johnson IM program

I interviewed there last year and I loved the program. The hospital is undergoing lots of renovation and many areas are very nice. They have something like a 100% board pass rating for the last three years and its because of how they do their morning report / MKSAP questions every day. I...

    80 Hours????

Man, that sucks. I think it will take one program getting dismantled for things to change in your program. Regardless of the bell commission rules, if the RRC comes and makes a surprise inspection, it's going to be pretty difficult to hide the fraudulant reporting of work hours. I'm...

    Obsessed w/malpractice

I think if you work at the V.A., your chance of being named in a malpractice lawsuit is essentially zero. Food for thought. As an intern, I've made a couple mistakes, but none have ever put the patient at risk. Most of them just come from being rushed (my senior resident wants me to get...

    My very first intern case

AS, My first four posts weren't directed at you. Maybe that gives the following statement more weight: You're an idiot. GI Guy

    First Night On Call!

Gwen, I don't totally disagree with you, and i do have profound respect for those nurses who've been working for thirty years. It's the fresh-out-of-college nurses, the ones who give Vicodin (i.e. Tylenol) to my neutropenic patients when I specifically write orders to the contrary...those...

    First Night On Call!

I've had my first three nights of call, and they (knock on wood) haven't been that bad. My last night, Monday, was the worst so far, and besides trying to admit three patients while taking check-out, there wasn't that much of a frenzy. Luckily, I don't get called too much at night, and when...

    residency online database

I doubt very much these numbers are accurate, at least for Internal Medicine. I suspect these statistics are based on what the program directors are reporting on their individual program's website, and program directors place a high value on making their program seem more humane than what may...

    Please Help Me.......

Latin Doctor, How are things going with the pain? Did you go see the doc? Update us. ----- Max, Good to hear from you! I started on Tuesday. So far, have been getting out at about 4pm or so, which ain't bad. I still feel like a glorified medical student, only now, the nurses...

    Please Help Me.......

Latin Doctor, Let me preface this by saying, you need to go back to your doctor. No one, including myself, can give adequate medical advice without actually laying hands on you. That's why it's discouraged to post personal medical questions on this forum. That said, let me tell you how...

Crush vs. Prescriptions - for Step 2

I actually posted a thread called "my step II score / study strategy," which talked about this. I don't know that much about Crush the Boards, to be honest with you. What I did was, over the course of 2 weeks, read Boards and Wards twice, with Prescriptions once (in between), and I did all...

    Womansurg's Drinking Problem

So much for plausible deniability. But let?s not exaggerate the story, Monkey Boy. It wasn?t a Men?s room, it was a dressing room in the ?Plus? Size Department of McFatty?s Department Store. And everyone knows, I don?t carry around $20?s. I?m more of a dollar bill man. If you?d gotten...

    Womansurg's Drinking Problem

Wu, As you probably know, I had nothing to do with this message. You can tell this by the fact that 'the monkey's' story is a somewhat mediocre attempt at humor. In addition, the story lacks true development. There are too many characters. There?s not enough movement. The spacing is...

    Attitudes towards FMG's

I think you may be reading those scutwork reviews the wrong way. It is common knowledge that, the more competitive a program is, the more selective it can be towards its residents. There is an overwhelming bias in this country towards American Medical Graduates, simply because there is a...
