    release score?

I teach MCATs for Kaplan and they told us to tell the students to always release the scores. If you withhold the scores, the adcoms know that and will assume the worst. If you're not confident about how you'll do, don't take the test! Wait a few months until you're ready and take it for real...

State medical schools that accept a significant amount of out of staters?

    Here are US News and World Reports' numbers for those state schools. UCSD: 98% in-state UCSF: 95% in-state UCLA: 95% in-state Iowa: 75% in-state OHSU: 75% in-state UVA: 73% in-state Michigan: 54% in-state

Any MCAT teachers out there? How much do you get paid?

It's funny... right now it seems like there's such a huge difference between making $18/hour and $25/hour, but when we're all doctors, this will all seem like pocket change.

Any MCAT teachers out there? How much do you get paid?

I teach MCATs and I keep hearing about other teachers at other locations getting paid more than me. I'm just curious as to how much you folks get paid to teach. I'm also curious as to how much Kaplan teachers make compared to TPR teachers. This info would be good for anyone out there...

What are some ethical questions and your responses?

I took a medical ethics class at Northwestern and we covered a myriad of topics that I thought a lot about prior to my interviews. 1. Should children be allowed to donate organs? Are they really mature enough to make that decision? 2. What should doctors do if a child needs blood, but is a...

    washu waitlist????

For all of you on the Wash U waitlist, one of my friends just got accepted off the waitlist on May 14. Dean Edwin Dodson will call and ask you if you're still interested in being in the med school. Good luck to you all. Hopefully some of you will join my friend and me at Wash U.

    washu waitlist????

After you interview, the small regional committee (East, West, Midwest, South) reviews your app and decides whether to reject/waitlist you or advance your app to the second stage. If your app advances, then a large committee reviews your app and decides whether to accept or waitlist you...

    WashU?

I like Forest Park. It's the second largest park in the nation and it's right across the street. Golf courses, skating rink, outdoor theater, zoo, running/biking trails, tennis courts...etc.

Anyone took Harvard Summer premed classes?

At Northwestern, a lot of pre-meds go to Harvard for summer courses because it's supposed to be really easy compared to NU courses. Of course, if you go to a school with easier pre-med courses, then Harvard might seem like boot camp.

For those going to top 25 med schools...

You'll meet a lot of people with sub-30's getting interviews at top 25 schools. Not that many of them actually get acceptances though. You'd be surprised. It doesn't take much to get an interview. It's the next step where a sub-30 will definitely hold you back. Don't worry about your MCAT...

Guaranteed Medical School Admissions Programs: Bunk Or Not?

Oh, it's even easier than you say. I know some of them take classes at a local community college to boost their GPAs and get course credits. From the GPPA's I know (I went to high school with a bunch and taught some in my MCAT classes), I wouldn't trust any of them with a knife or scalpel...
