What a day! This is interesting

Fyi, I reapplied and got into NYMC after getting rejected the first time around. My verbal score on the MCAT was an 8, too. I'm not saying you shouldn't put any stock in what that lady was telling you, but I do think it's a bit odd that NYMC would tell you this unless you haven't made any...

Anyone on Temple's CCL list hear anything yet?

Given jdub's information, I was thinking that this year's class at Temple would be almost exclusively PA residents.

    Not-Accepted-Yet SDNers List

Just checking in to say that I'm pulling for all of you here and I'm hoping and hoping that your luck will change over the next couple of weeks. I was sifting through last year's threads and there were stories of people getting in at the last minute. *anxiousmed* 3.67 (undergrad)/3.80...

Anyone on Temple's CCL list hear anything yet?

Wow, it would be quite a travesty if they're not even going to get to the "probable" people. That letter in June almost seemed to spell out the notion that probable people are virtually a lock to get in. They couldn't have anticipated this situation 1.5 months ago so that they could've...

okay, i will share my info, too. TUSM Class of 2006: -otter - went to Tufts undergrad and then worked as an engineer. I'll be living in Brookline. I like ethnic food, traveling, football (both soccer and NFL) and foreign languages. I also want to find someone to play tennis with...

What to do if your wife is not supportive?

Wow, that puts a lot of pressure on you to kick butt the first time with everything, including the MCAT and your interview. I really hope things work out. But I also wonder how reasonable it is for you to have to give up on your dream just cuz you don't get in on your first try. You could get...

    Who likes Temple?

Awesome school! Everyone seems happy and laidback and mature. The clinical training there is awesome; you get to see/do lots even during the first two years, since its primary teaching hospital serves the poor, underserved population. It seems as though students there don't have as much...

    U of Washington residency question

why are you guys having such rough time understanding yhe poor OP's question?!

    U of Washington residency question

I don't think it should matter too much, as long as you meet the state residency requirement. The adcom's focus will probably be more on how committed and well thought-out your ambitions in medicine are. I interviewed twice at UWSOM. While there was an immense pressure put on me to elucidate...

    Tufts or NYMC

Tufts' location actually compares favorably with those of Boston's other two med schools. I really like where Tufts is, and I don't think it's as dangerous as people make it out to be. Maybe the term "Combat Zone" scares people off, but I think being next to Chinatown is great and a 10-minute...

If you were rejected, would you go into nursing?

I agree with this. I've met nurses who are happy with what they do and nurses who keep complaining that they could've and should've become doctors. Nurses play integral roles in health care indeed, but it certainly takes the right personality to thrive as and be happy as a nurse.

    Tufts or NYMC

Hi, if you really like NYMC a lot, maybe that's the right fit for you. When you account for tuition, cost of living and everything else, I think you'll find that Tufts will be about $6-8k/year more than NYMC. Also, at NYMC, you'll get to live in very nice dorms that are 3-minute walk away from...

    Reapplying after acceptance!

If you do get the deferral, then I would think that all you'd need to do is to withdraw your applications. Check with the school that grants you the deferral. I'm a little bit surprised that all of your schools were firm about not giving you the deferral after May 1st. I've heard of people...

    Reapplying after acceptance!

I don't know anything about what she included in her essays the second time around (I don't keep in touch with her). I assume her reason for declining the acceptance was that she felt she could do better than NYMC or that she didn't like the school when she visited. Also, my previous post...
