    Help!

I have CK in 1 month from today. I've gone through ~40% of the questions (first pass) and am hovering around 60%. I have a sub-I the next 2 weeks during which I can study 6 hours/day and then have about 9 days with no clinical duties before taking the exam. I'm freaking out because I'm worried...

First aid flash facts vs. Kaplan Qbank

Hey guys, I'm taking step1 in a few weeks and by the time I take it I would have done UWorld twice, read through first aid twice, done USMLE-Rx twice and seen pathoma lectures twice. I also have the Kaplan QBank and USMLE Flashfacts (the flashcards that come with the book) available and don't...

    Depressed, need advice

Thanks for the encouraging words. I was thinking about delaying my exam date and start focusing on pathoma/BRS/First Aid/USMLE-Rx to gain a more solid background before continuing UWorld/FA. Do you guys think it's a good idea?

    Depressed, need advice

A little background: med school (west coast) wasn't the best experience and I later found out I had a bipolar disorder (currently on a leave of absence). I was approximately in the 3rd quartile in my classes but I know I didn't fully apply myself (2/2 to my mood disorder). Now that I'm medicated...

Your Workout/Exercise Routines In Medical School

Bump! I'm about to start med school and struggled with my weight for my whole life and really don't want to get out of shape because of med school. Do you guys think its reasonable to follow insanity (mornings before class) with some weight lifting 3 times a week while in medical schools?

2012-2013 University of Pennsylvania (Perelman) Application Thread

There are 3 unscheduled afternoons a week. The other 2 are for things like learning how to take a physical, standardized patients, etc... Students can take free classes (1 of the advantages of being next to an undergraduate campus), volunteer, do research, or basically do anything they want on...

2012-2013 University of Pennsylvania (Perelman) Application Thread

Quite a few people got this last year. It looks like they send it to some of their applicants. I personally don't recall receiving it though.

How easy is it to get scholarships to med school?

Depends on the school. Some school give need-based aid (depending solely on you and your family's economic situation) and others give merit (based on how you are appreciated as an applicant) and some give a combination of the two. Need based schools include Harvard, Yale, Hopkins. For these...

    Lieing about voluteer Hours

+1 The number of hours you do is irrelevant imo, what's important is what you get out of it. And I'm sure some applicants b.s stuff on their applications- even though the risks may be low of getting caught, the consequences are enormous so its not worth it

To any medical students (or even failed premeds)

I would've had a more balanced life-I would've had a regular exercise schedule and chilled a little more. I would've also eaten healthier. I honestly think the key to pre-med is balance. Get good grades by studying regularly (i.e 1-2 hours everyday) and engage in extra-curricular activities that...
