Dermatologists how do you defend your turf?

there is not a single dermatologist posting in this thread. I love the way med students and pre-meds assume to know everything about certain spoecialties

    board scores

grand rounds are not for your knowledge. You go to grand rounds so the PD can see you are actively interested, so the residents get to know you, and to get opportunities for research/publications. You would not believe the opportunities that will arise for you to help out on a project for a...

    board scores

The most important thing any of you can do is to go to derm grand rounds any chance you get. (Christmas break is a great time.) Prior to going, set up a meeting with a junior derm faculty member and tell them your class rank/board score and how much you desire to get in derm and ask "what are my...

    Pediatric Dermatology

i've heard that you can do as much peds derm as you like with a derm residency. No need to get a fellowship unless you are really wanting the extra certification or you want to do academic medicine.

    basic or clinical research

if you like both equally, then go with the mentor that will be more helpful in landing a spot. Go with the indian that has more feathers.

    pre med school derm research?

cardiology fellowship is following 3 years of internal medicine residency and selection for the fellowship is usually based on performance in residency and research DURING residency. That being said, you should get cardiology exposure to see if it interests you, but I would spend the research...
