How did you prepare for the interview?
Applicants commonly prepared for the interview by practicing with family members, seeking advice from online forums like SDN, and staying true to themselves by providing honest answers. It is important to practice interview questions, gather insights from various sources, and maintain authenticity during the interview process.
Applicants were positively impressed by the comfortable and honest environment of the school, the affordability of in-state tuition, the small class sizes, the welcoming and laid-back atmosphere, the Dean's enthusiasm and personalized approach, and the school's organization and location within the main campus. Many highlighted the school's emphasis on creating a supportive and informative environment for students.
I felt extremely comfortable at the school and felt like they were very honest and straight forward about the profession and the school. The in-state tuition is extremely economical, and the opportunity for residency seems easier than I expected.
There was a lot that impressed me. I was impressed by how much the dean raved about the program and that he really took the time to get to know us and explain not only Ole MIss' pharmacy program to us, but the pharmacy profession in general. I was also impressed by how cheap off-campus living would have been.
Applicants commonly expressed frustration with the lack of clear communication regarding schedules and potential moves, as well as dissatisfaction with lengthy and impersonal interview processes that did not provide a comprehensive understanding of the program. Suggestions included providing more detailed information in advance and ensuring that interviews are more engaging and informative.
Nothing. Best school I have interviewed at so far :)
I didn't like the idea of having to move to jackson for the third year and then possibly moving again for the fourth year for rotations (though they did have several locations for those rotations that were nice)
The interview process was way too long. 8 hours without even speaking to anyone as a formal interview. The logic test was also annoying. The students that toured the group were only P1 which wasn't enough to get to know the whole program.
Applicants commonly wished they had known about missing classes or prerequisites ahead of time to avoid last-minute scrambling, and appreciated more information to plan accordingly. Additionally, a practical tip that was mentioned was to be aware of parking regulations to avoid getting a ticket.
I wished I had known about the classes I was missing before the start of the spring semester so I wouldn't have to scramble for summer school classes. But they were helpful in giving me a list of schools offering the classes I needed online during the summer.
Applicants generally expressed enthusiasm and admiration for the school and its staff, with a strong desire to be admitted. Some applicants highlighted the admissions process as straightforward and transparent, while others mentioned concerns about the interview length and procedures.
I absolutely love this school...If i don't get in this year i will definitely apply again next year. Do not mind moving from texas at all!!! If I had to chose between a Texas school or Ole Miss, I would take Ole Miss without a doubt! They really work with you and try to help you as much as they can.
2010 is special for Ole Miss admissions; they did not get many applications, therefore if you have the minimum GPA/PCAT AND have taken all of THEIR required prereqs, you're basically in. They aren't going to have a full class this year, which would have had many advantages. I really wish I had been admitted.
I felt positively about the school even though the interview was extremely long. Do they really need to take pictures and measure white coats for everyone even though 75% of their applicants will be rejected? Also to talk about being professional and not cheating for an hour and a half was discouraging.
What are your suggestions for the admissions office?
Applicants commonly suggested that the admissions office provide clearer information on missing prerequisites, offer more details about events like Applicant Day in advance, and improve communication about important deadlines and requirements. They also highlighted the need for better coordination of logistics for out-of-state applicants.
The admissions office was very quick to respond. I just wish I would have known I was missing 2 classes before the spring semester started, but they were very helpful in giving me courses offered online by schools across the nation.
Tell students the prereqs they are missing. I was unaware I was missing so many and this costed me my admission to the school.
Also, they should give more information as to what exactly Applicant Day will entain. I am from FL, so trying to make flight/hotel accomodations were really hard to make because I never had information as to when I needed to be there and when I would be leaving.
