About the School

The Mayo Clinic Alix School of Medicine expanded its four-year medical program to the Arizona campus in 2017, offering students a comprehensive medical education in the Phoenix and Scottsdale areas. Each year, the Arizona campus matriculates 50 M.D. students.

Curriculum

The curriculum at the Arizona campus integrates preclinical classes in Scottsdale with clinical clerkships primarily at the Mayo Clinic Hospital in Phoenix during the third and fourth years. Students have opportunities for rotations in pediatrics and related subspecialties through partnerships with Phoenix Children's Hospital, as well as expanded rotation opportunities in psychiatry at the Maricopa Integrated Health System. Additionally, rotations in internal medicine and psychiatry are available at the Carl T. Hayden Veterans Affairs Hospital.

Facilities

The Arizona campus encompasses two main locations: the Scottsdale campus, featuring the Mayo Clinic Building, Mayo Clinic Alix School of Medicine, Collaborative Research Building, and Samuel C. Johnson Research Building; and the Phoenix campus, home to the Mayo Clinic Hospital, a seven-story facility with 268 beds, 21 operating rooms, and an emergency department. The Phoenix campus also includes the Integrated Education and Research Building, designed to foster collaboration among researchers, educators, and clinicians.
