About the School

Ranked among the top pharmacy schools in the United States and considered one of the most prestigious, the School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences was founded in 1886, and is the second-oldest component of the University at Buffalo and the only pharmacy school in the State University of New York (SUNY) system.

Curriculum

The PharmD program entails a minimum of two years of prepharmacy courses followed by four years of courses in the School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences. The curriculum consists of courses in basic biomedical sciences, clinical sciences, pharmaceutical sciences, and pharmacy practice. The course work is integrated with patient-centered practice experiences and is capped by a 9-month experiential program, with its focus centered on educating entry-level practitioners capable of providing pharmaceutical care.

Facilities

The school is part of an academic health center that includes the Schools of Dental Medicine, Health Related Professions, Nursing, Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, and Pharmacy. The school has moved to a new state-of-the-art building in 2012.
