The Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine (VCOM) established its Louisiana campus in Monroe in 2019, welcoming its inaugural class in 2020. This campus is the fourth branch of VCOM, joining its sister campuses in Virginia, South Carolina, and Alabama. VCOM-Louisiana partners with the University of Louisiana Monroe (ULM) to provide students with access to collaborative educational and research opportunities. The VCOM-Louisiana campus features a 100,000-square-foot academic facility situated on a 10-acre campus along the Bayou DeSiard. The main building includes two theater-style high-tech classrooms, a state-of-the-art anatomy lab, 20 small-group rooms, four conference rooms, student lounges, food service, and a library. The Simulation and Technology Center houses clinical medical procedural skills laboratories, simulated patient exam rooms with recording capability and electronic medical record technology, patient simulation laboratories, and high-tech mannequin simulators for pediatric, adult, and obstetrical procedural training. Outdoor amenities include a walking path and patios, providing students with both indoor and outdoor environments for study and activities.
