Applicants were positively impressed by the friendly and welcoming staff and students, as well as the pleasant campus and facilities. They also highlighted the engaging and stress-free interview experience as a standout positive aspect.
The medical school building was nice. The campus looked nice and the library looked big. The students are nice and honest. I enjoyed the ‘game’ that allowed us to interact with other interviewees.

Additionally, concerns were raised about the overall reputation and experience at the school, with some students describing it as 'backwards' and only staying for the degree. Suggestions for improvement include fostering a more inclusive and supportive environment for applicants and students.
My interviewer gaslighted me the entire time. She dismissed my personal experiences. She pretty much said representation doesn’t matter in medicine. Such a dangerous mindset to have- to be able to excuse patients hardships just because you were privileged enough to not have to deal with those issues.
I asked a few students about their experience at VCOM and they described it as ‘backwards’ and that they were soely here for the degree but leaving once they graduated. They had positive things to say about the faculty though so maybe my interviewer was just having a bad day.
Applicants commonly expressed a desire for prior knowledge about limitations in applying to multiple VCOM schools through AACOMAS and the lengthy duration of the interviews, emphasizing the need for thorough preparation and time management.
Not to apply to multiple VCOM schools on AACOMAS since you’ll only be considered for 1 school.
Applicants generally recommend getting a good night's rest and eating breakfast before the in-person interview day, and advise staying engaged and smiling during virtual interviews. They appreciate the conversational interview style with multiple professors, which helped them feel more relaxed and comfortable as the interviews progressed.
Great rest the night before and eat breakfast because the in-person day is long and you won’t eat until 1pm.
Great interview style. 3 interviews with different professors that lasted about 30 min a piece. I was way more relaxed and comfortable with communication after the first interview. The second and third interviews felt more conversational rather than question and answer
What are your suggestions for the admissions office?
Applicants commonly suggest that the admissions office should gather feedback from interviewees and consider shortening the length of the interview day. Additionally, they recommend streamlining the process by presenting certain information, like financial aid details or tours, through virtual videos instead of in-person activities.
The admissions office should get feedback from interviewees after their interview. Also shorten the length of the interview day. Financial aid, game, bus town tour were all unnecessary and could have been presented in a virtual video.
