The University of Ottawa Faculty of Medicine, established in 1945, is a bilingual institution located in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. It offers medical education in both English and French, making it the first medical school in North America to do so. The faculty is situated at the Health Sciences Complex, centered on Roger-Guindon Hall, adjacent to The Ottawa Hospital's General Campus. This location is separate from the university's main downtown campus.
The undergraduate Doctor of Medicine (MD) program is a four-year curriculum that accepts approximately 160 students annually, with 44 in the French stream and 116 in the English stream. Courses are offered in both languages, allowing students to attend and complete examinations in their preferred language. The curriculum underwent significant revisions starting in the 2008–2009 academic year, introducing a more integrated teaching system with cumulative exams each semester and morning classes to facilitate elective experiences. Self-Learning Modules (SLMs) were also implemented, enabling students to engage in independent study outside of scheduled class times.
The Faculty of Medicine is affiliated with several teaching hospitals, including The Ottawa Hospital (comprising the Civic, General, and Riverside campuses), the Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO), Montfort Hospital, and Bruyère Continuing Care. These affiliations provide students with diverse clinical training opportunities across various healthcare settings. Additionally, the faculty collaborates with research institutions such as the Ottawa Hospital Research Institute and the University of Ottawa Heart Institute, fostering a robust environment for medical research and innovation.

Although we could tier rank, over the past 25 years we've found no compelling benefit for ranking schools. Students are most successful when they prioritize personal and academic fit over school rank.
