What do you like least?

"the administration" | Report Response

"The Title IX office is pretty underdeveloped. The school was recently reported to the ACLU for racial issues. Believe everyone when they say this school doesn’t care about its students. Most of the programs are barely accredited or constantly at risk of losing accreditation status which is ultimately at the expense of the students-the school will make choices not at all in the interest of individual student outcomes but in what will save the school’s numbers-evidenced by apparently forcing repeat years with a practice Step 1 exam and restricting when students can apply to residency based on whether they’re up to the mark or not. They publish a high Step 1 pass rate but many students are not even allowed to attempt Step 1 unless the school allows it so don’t get the idea that students are passing easily. Curriculum is poor and the school is managed by basically no staff. Don’t be fooled by the impressive match list either-students who achieve their goals do so on their own. NEOMED has a way of making problems disappear—especially when those problems are students who speak up. Lots of students suddenly "disappear" from NEOMED after small course failures or not passing useless benchmarks that they make up. Girls who leave Title IX complaints are also known to "disappear." Don't rely on this school to treat you like a human being but as a liability-the school is a functional school in the sense that it can give you a degree, but don't count on it for anything else. If you thought the BSMD program was bad, just know the new programs aren't any better." | Report Response

"The curriculum is terrible they started doing this PI think and I learn nothing there and waste 3-4 hours of my day there. On top of that there is a ton of busy work that makes it even worse. The students keep telling on each other to the admin over petty things making the experience even worse. The admins don't really care about the students and don't take us seriously. Feels like I am back in elementary school. If you want a nice school that will actually support you avoid this school. Got bullied by other students talked to the admin about it and didn't care as well. If you actually want to do well on step and get into a good residency would avoid the school like the plague." | Report Response

"Students are treated like a number here. The mental health and well-being of students is not prioritized. The curriculum is objectively awful as the accreditation offices are constantly giving the school low ratings and closely monitoring them. I would highly recommend against attending this school. Very few medical students have a satisfactory experience during their 4 years here." | Report Response

"Location, BS/MD program" | Report Response

"Absolutely everything. Tuition going up every single year while services to students decline, we closed our physical fitness center last year, they took away our student lounge, and they also took away several parking lots. Somehow this means tuition should go up. Go figure." | Report Response

How do students from this program do after graduation - are they adequately prepared for practice?

"From my understanding, as medical students we see way less patients than the average medical school severely underpreparing us for high volume residencies. Additionally, it is evident admin only cares about money and not about student success and have actively harmed the medical career of several students. Choosing to come here was essentially career suicide." | Report Response

"Really varies -every medical school is going to have successful students but that doesn’t mean the school was helpful in that. Some people definitely excel but it's always an independt effort." | Report Response

"Most students are prevented from reaching their full potential as future providers." | Report Response

"They do just fine. Every year a handful make their way into competitive subspecialties. About half end up in internal medicine." | Report Response

How do students from this program do in the Match?

"The stats show that students match below the national average. Very few students get into competitive specialities because the school restricts its students in major ways." | Report Response

"Well." | Report Response

Any other information you want to share?

"Yeah legally neomed covers their bases but only does so so they can quietly fuck students over. NEOMED is the "23rd most diverse school" yet REFUSES to hire a single counselor of color and many minority students feel unsafe here (I am white but my friends have shared numerous stories of microaggressions they have faced on behalf of admin). They are currently in the process of getting rid of the majority of our dedicated STEP 1 study time. While the school claims to be pass-fail, there is a general understanding that you need to high pass or do a certain % above passing (like over 5% over passing) to actually be seen as a passing, compliant student. While I get wanting to make sure struggling students get extra help, there is a toxic focus on % grades for a school that claims to be pass-fail. Admin will not communicate important information and yet expects us to know that info and penalizes us for not knowing said info that was never communicated. When admin does communicate, it is oftentimes unprofessional and mainly just denying students' lived experiences." | Report Response

"This school does not put its student’s best interest in mind when making executive decisions. Very bad curriculum that is slow to adapt to change. The problem likely stems from the administrators who come off as extremely clueless." | Report Response
