    D.O Pediatricians

Nicola, As a graduating senior at the 'original' PCOM I can say that I had absolutely no problem with my Peds residency applications. As noted previously, Peds is rather 'non-competitive' and I received 7 interviews for 7 applications (6 MD programs, one mixed MD-DO program). My best...

aacom is very politically biased, very discriminative!

Kids, Having been here awhile, I've found that it works best when you simply ignore youngjock. While his/her intentions may <sometimes> be in the right place, s/he is an idiot and cannot be reasoned with. I say this not to be mean. It's just something I've observed time and time...

    Money!!!!!!

yeah, the schools will want your parent's info 'cause they have their own F/A available (scholarships, grants) and want to give it to the students with the least support (which I guess they interpret to be the one's with the poorest parents). So, unless you want to be considered for these...

    Money!!!!!!

careful on racking up too much c/c debt...once you get into school you'll probably need to take out 'alternate loans' to cover any expenses above the federally subsidized $38,500...these loans are provided by private lenders who don't like applicants with large debt-to-income ratios.

    Juvenile Record

okay, someone's masquerading as me...didn't write that last post... ...Although I agree with the idea that med school is no place for criminals, being convicted for stealing when you're young & stupid shouldn't prevent you from becoming a doc. After all, we all do stupid things in our lives...

    Schools comparable to NYCOM???

wow, I didn't write that last post...at least whoever did wasn't an a$$hole :D Guess I should be more careful about logging off computers at school

    Schools comparable to NYCOM???

PCOM is an awesome school. I got accepted at both NYCOM and PCOM and chose to come here to PCOM. Both schools have the positives and negatives. NYCOM does have a great curriculum and great rotations. PCOM is the same. You can send me a PM if you want more information about why I chose...

You shouldn't go to medical school if you are a thief, that's all I gotta say about that. ;)

PCOM Upperclassmen share hot tips with us?

alright, this'll be quick since I'm headed out the door... Books: No clue...things change year to year; definitely plan on buying Netter and Moore (for Anatomy)...there's actually two Moore's, 'baby' Moore and 'big daddy' Moore...I got the big one, but know many who got the little one and did...

    dr. andrew weil

Yeah, I'm a big fan of the guy...he's the type of doc I'd love to have as my personal physician. If you want to 'get to know' Dr. Weil a little better, go out and read his books. I just finished his "Natural Health, Natural Medicine" and was surprised by how much I learned regarding diet and...
